Today is the most expensive holiday on the calendar. Every hot dog, burger, steak, a beer, or a spin around the lake with friends and family… has been purchased by others… with blood!
This day is not about all the servicemen and women who have served – that comes in the Fall.
Today, we honor those who paid in life and blood; whose moms never saw them again, whose fathers wept in private, whose wives raised kids alone, and kids… whose only memory of their fathers or mothers was from pictures.
This is not simply a day off.
This is a day to remember that others paid for every breath you will ever take.
Remember that Freedom is never free!
Never forget that.
Dodger News & Notes
- The Dodgers’ Offense is on hiatus. Not to worry…
- Landon Knack did his job. 6 IP/4 H/1 ER – He’ll get more starts.
- Jack Dreyer and Ben Casparius – Two Superb Rookies.
- Have the Dodgers “fixed” Lou Trevino?
- It’s hard for me to get excited about games this early, so I am sure the Dodgers have some of the same issues.
- Michael Kopech got the win at OKC – 1 IP/1 BB/1 K/0 R – One more outing and he will be back.
- Jarod Karros continues to struggle at AA – 7.11 ERA.
- Sirota was 2-4 at GL (.428 BA/1.250 OPS)
- DePaula – .263 BA; Hope .292 BA
- Payton Martin pitched 5 Hitless innings at GL.
- On to Cleveland.
- Great Race in Indy
- Pacers Sucked!

God bless the U.S.A.
Thanks Mark for defining Memorial Day. I am a retired Navy Chief and it always bothered me when people confuse Veterans Day with Memorial Day.
Hitting coaches need to work on ground outs/DPs. Maybe it’s just good pitching we are seeing?
Same here Jack, former Army during Viet Nam era. Had to correct a friend about that today.
It makes me sad that Americans celebrate today like it’s the 4th of July. A moment of silence for our fallen heroes isn’t to much to ask.
I looked up quality start in the dictionary. There was a picture of Landon Knack! Nowhere did it say he’s pitching batting practice. And it didn’t say anything about a rented mule. What are you smoking? My boy pitched like a star. Anyway, I love the haters. How’s that for an oxyMORON. Landon is the Rodney Dangerfield of LADT. I rest my case.
Book em
Mark –
That ie the best Memorial Day tribute I have ever heard! As a 100% disabled Vietnam vet, I have known personally a number of guys who never came home and I remember them all vividly because I grew up with some of them. Your tribute is the most poignant I have ever heard. It brought tears to my eyes….
Max now tied with machado (9) errors, the most in the majors. next dodger on the list ? Mookie has 3. The sad part about Max’s errors are most are routine plays. Yes he needs to be better! Hopefully he can get where he needs to be soon! …. I was one who thought conforto would work through it .Looks like he’s proving me wrong! With him and Max in the lineup at the same time it’s becoming a major issue. Max is walking some. What to do? ….. Ok, i’ll eat a small bowl of crow on Knack! Deserved a far better outcome than he got! he got ambushed by Max , then Alonzo! …. Cleveland can pitch. hopefully a different outcome in this series. …. Maybe a little more Kim in the lineup? Wouldn’t hurt. …. i know Will had 2 errors last night. BUT, they didn’t affect the outcome of the game. Just figured i better mention his 2 errors.. And, mookie had one on a tough play. 4 is 4 too many! no matter who committed them!…….. I think the dodgers have probably seen enough of bobby miller. just my opinion though. i don’t believe he’s in the organization at the end of the season. ….. God bless all who sacrificed their lives for us to be able to do this, and all the other freedoms we enjoy every day. We ALL take for granted the freedoms we enjoy every single moment of our lives! Regardless of your religion, political beliefs, or race , take a moment to reflect on just how good we have it! For every bad thing reported in the news,, 20 good things happen that nobody ever hears about! i’m so glad and grateful to live here! we all should!
have to correct something. max has 8 errors , not 9. don’t want to charge him with one he has yet to commit!!!
We live in the Greatest country in the world. Sometimes it doesn’t seem that way, but it is. It is because of men and women who served and died for us to live with that Freedom. I hope eveyone enjoys this Day with family and friends and take a moment to think how lucky we are. Happy Memorial Day!!!!!!
I hope everyone takes a moment on Memorial Day to appreciate how the freedoms that men and women who served to defend are now under grave threat–and not by an any foreign enemy. But I’ll try to stick to Dodgers…
It sure seems that Michael Sirota has moved ahead of Zyhir Hope and Josue de Paula among the outfield prospects. It helps that Sirota’s about a year older and is considered a polished centerfielder. All of these guys might have shots in ’26.
But what about 2025?
The weak link on the roster is Conforto by a wide margin. Should the Dodgers seek an upgrade?
Cedric Mullins, who is having a pretty good season, should be on the market. Outman plus Bobby Miller or Wrobleski or ?? Surely the price for Luis Robert Jr. has gone down. Worth the risk? Even if he keeps hitting like Conforto, his defense and speed would make Robert an upgrade.
Standing pat is certainly an option. There are 17 million reasons why the front office is hoping Conforto get his act together.
But I’ll try to stick to Dodgers… NO – You will stick to the Dodgers.
Looks to me like Michael Sirota has moved ahead of Zyhir Hope and Josue de Paula among the outfield prospects. Perhap one will break through in ’26. It helps Sirota that he’s about a year or two older and is considered a polished centerfielder.
But what about here and now?
The weak link on the roster is Conforto by a wide margin. Should the Dodgers seek an upgrade?
Cedric Mullins, who is having a pretty good season, should be on the market. Outman plus Bobby Miller or Wrobleski or ??
Mullin in CF would move Edman to 2B.
Surely the price for Luis Robert Jr. has gone down. Worth the risk? Robert is hitting only a little better than Conforto, but his defense and speed would make him a clear upgrade.
Any other options look intriguing?
Standing pat is certainly an option. There are 17 million reasons why the front office is hoping Conforto gets his act together.
Whoops.
Sorry for the redundancy….
Just now realized that Ryan Ward, the 27-year-old career minor leaguer, bats from the left side, like Conforto. And that he plays LF, like Conforto. (Neither are considered gold glove contenders.)
Ward is hitting to a .900+ OPS in OKC, while Conforto is down around .550 in the majors.
If Conforto strains an oblique, perhaps it’s time for Ward to get to The Show.
Conforto has about 150 AB’s. I think if he is not rolling by 220 AB’s (or so), he will be toast!
So if the dodgers trade for mullins that will block sirota.

“Michael Kopech worked around a leadoff walk to pitch his second straight scoreless appearance, with one strikeout. Kopech’s sixth rehab game was his quickest turnaround yet, pitching on just one day rest. Dave Roberts told reporters Saturday in New York that Kopech would likely pitch in back-to-back outings before getting activated from the disabled list, as Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register relayed on Sunday”.

“As the Los Angeles Dodgers continue to slow play Shohei Ohtani’s return to the mound after a second elbow surgery, manager Dave Roberts told team flagship radio station AM-570 on Sunday that the star two-way player will not pitch before the All-Star break”.
“I do think we are being very methodical about it,” Roberts told the radio station Monday about Ohtani’s recovery program from his 2023 Tommy John revision surgery. “I can safely say that he is probably not going to pitch for us until after the break.”
“They received some good news on that front today, as manager Dave Roberts told reporters (including Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic) that right-hander Roki Sasaki is set to start a throwing progression at some point this coming week. It’s the first sign of the 23-year-old phenom beginning to ramp back up toward a return since he was placed on the shelf with a right shoulder impingement two weeks ago”.
Angels signed Chris Taylor to a major league contract and optioned Paris to AAA. Happy for Chris. He is starting in CF for the Angels tonight against the Yankees.
good start tonite
Conforto hasn’t fucked up yet
He made a damned good catch against the wall in foul territory.
SP Emmet Sheehan is ptching for the ACL Dodgers tonight as he begins his rehab and on his way back to helping the Dodgers around the All Star break.
Per The Athletic talking about Max Muncy’s defense:
“The 34-year-old’s been worth minus-4 Outs Above Average this season, according to Statcast. Only the Mets’ Mark Vientos has been worse. Muncy ranks in the second percentile in range, according to the site. Muncy’s throwing has been responsible for all but one of his errors, creating a variety of things for the Dodgers to address defensively.”
You do realize don’t you that Max is going nowhere anytime soon? He is harder on himself than any of us fans could be. I think he is more concerned at this point about his lack of power.
SP Emmet Sheehan’s ptching line for the ACL Dodgers last night:
