Last night’s game should not count as the Dodgers played the Little Sister of the Poor. The Marlins are an embarrassment to baseball, and Sandy Alcántara is a shell of himself. Matt Sauer acquitted himself nicely (he’s a great story) and Kike kept his ERA at 0.00.
Remember when most of you wanted to Turn the Pages? Not only is he hitting, but he is evolving into a nice centerfielder. I am damn happy Andrew Friedman is GM and not Dodger Fans.
If we know anything about Andrew Friedman, we know that he is always about 15 steps ahead of most fans. He traded Michael Busch for two TOP 100 Prospects, namely Zyhir Hope and Jackson Ferris. Josue DePaula is developing his power – last night he hit his third HR, a 3-run bomb! OKC is loaded with prospects, and the Dodgers are about 50 deep at pitcher. Let’s look at a few other subjects.
What Happened to Gavin Lux?
If you look at Gavin Lux’s splits this year, he has 16 ABs against LHP and is 2-16 (.125 BA/.425 OPS). He is killing RHP (1.016 OPS/.400 BA). Lux has good power – the Dodgers wanted him to tap it, and he stubbornly wouldn’t. The Dodgers have plenty of platoon 2B, but they needed a CF, and Mike Sirota is showing what he is all about in his very first pro season at RC. He doesn’t run in CF… he glides. The Dodgers’ need for a CF and Lux’s refusal to try for more long balls brought his career as a Dodger to an end. I am not saying that he was wrong, and maybe it was a good deal for both sides. Sirota hit his 3rd HR last night and is hitting .361 with a 1.123 OPS. He will be moving up to Great Lakes shortly. I think he finishes the season at Tulsa, and we could see him in Blue in late 2026 or early 2027. I feel the same about Sirota as I did when I saw Cody Bellinger and Corey Seager at RC.
BTW, the Dodgers are in sole possession of first place in the NL West. I am headed to the Craft Beer Show (which is in Indy this year).

Best of luck to Gavin Lux. His shelve life with Dodges had expired. Sirota, the drat pick and pool money will work out just fine for the Dodgers in the Lux trade.”In Andrew Friedman we trust”.
High praise for Sirota. Yesterday’s bomb was impressive.
Sauer & Casparius are the new rotation-savers.
Conforto I’m sure is putting on shows in batting practice but nothing is following him onto the field.
First place, baby. Catch those Mets.
Can’t stand the Mets. Very cocky bunch. They’ve become the Padres of the East Coast. Can’t wait to kick their asses.
Which comes first, Conforto ends his hitless streak? Or Muncy hit a HR?
The 4th of July!
That’s funny
Gave you a thumbs up. Didn’t post.

Good arms
Matt Sauer ha three options remaining which includes one for 2025. Another great pickup by AF and BG.
Sauer did a nice job last night. He will be on a plane to OKC later today when Catman is activated if he already isn’t. Team will fly to Atlanta after today’s game. I will miss it, have a doctor’s appointment in Denver at 2. Still do not like watching position players pitch. Kike had some fun with it and even got a smile from Doc. Neither Conforto or Muncy could get the ball out of the infield against Sinoia. Max’s frustration is more than obvious right now. The field mike picked up his very loud expletive after Soriano struck him out on a fastball up that was at least 6 inches above the strike zone. I feel for the guy, he probably feels worse than any of us. Although I am no fan of the Mets, they have Acuna’s kid brother on their team now. Watch out for that kid when they do play the Dodgers. He is as fast as his brother. Looks a lot like him too. Don’t think he has that kind of power though.
Agree – no more Kike on the mound. Unpleasant watching…..
Was a strange decision to trade Lux, a former no1 Prospect in all of Baseball, a year removed from a very serious injury, who had shown great promise in the second half of 24, and had been part of a WS winning team, and was affordable and young.
Which ever way you wanna dress it up it was a strange decision. If you were back in the Dugout with AF you might wanna ask him if he expected Kim to be better than has turned out, snd MLB ready, and if he he could reverse the deal he would?
I would imagine he’s feeling a bit uncomfortable at this moment, and I’m not buying any of this character assassination of him, because no one anywhere has ever said anything negative about him.
Yeah Ill trust the brain trust.
Does it mean they get it right all the time, no. But lets let this one play out a bit…..
Hi Watford
I believe Andrew traded Lux because he thought he could improve the defense with Kim at second base and he could get a future center fielder that they tried to get previously.
The jury is still out on Kim.
Bob – that’s exactly what I think too, only Kim’s bat isn’t what he was hoping for. They obviously scouted and coveted Sirota but there’s no doubting Lux would lengthen our lineup considerably especially as we are in win now mode.
I hope you’re good, and it’s great to see you posting – you’ve been here longer than I have!!!!

Outs Above Average is an interesting stat, from MLB’s Statcast. OAA is the cumulative effect of all individual plays a fielder has been credited or debited with, making it a range-based metric of fielding skill that accounts for the number of plays made and the difficulty of them.
For example, a fielder who catches a 25% Out Probability play gets +.75; one who fails to make the play gets -.25.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that Glasnow (shoulder) will be shut down 10-to-14 days before being re-evaluated, Sonja Chen of MLB.com reports.
“Glasnow was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday with right shoulder inflammation and will not do any throwing for a while. Given the length of the shutdown period, it’s unclear the right-hander will be ready to return before June even in a best-case scenario”.
04/30/25 Los Angeles Dodgers activated RHP Tony Gonsolin from the 15-day injured list.
04/30/25 Los Angeles Dodgers optioned RHP Matt Sauer to Oklahoma City Comets.
What the absolute f*** is the FanDuel sports Network? What time’s going to come when the MLB Network will be absolutely f****** worthless!
i guess we need Barnsie to play left field!
How great to see order restored, with Gonsolin the explanation point with his command and max putting a cherry on it. Ready to go on the road! The Marlins d is an embarrassment, as was mentioned.
He looked great
NESN has added former MLB Network contributor and Dodgers sideline reporter Alanna Rizzo as a “general sports reporter and analyst‚” according to a press release. Rizzo’s duties, which begin in May, will include “co-host of the network’s alternate broadcast, “Unobstructed Views presented by Blue Moon”, occasional host and sideline reporter for NESN’s Red Sox coverage, and other general reporting.
I trust the Dodgers scouting of Sirota. However, I think they sold low on Lux. I’d be happy with Lux at 2B, Edman in CF, Pages in a corner. If Conforto wasn’t stinking up the joint we wouldn’t notice most likely but the like it was mentioned the lineup would definitely be longer with Lux. Hopefully Conforto snaps out of it.
15 & 12 make me forget about our lineup problems.
Conforto has been atrocious but a solid week gets him back on terra firma. At least he’s been walking.
Kershaw’s line at Oklahoma City last night:
5IP 4H 3R 3ER 1BB 2HR 3.38ERA 66 pitches 44 strikes
He also struck out 4
