Remember when Dodger fans were pining for David Bednar? He was the flavor of the month in 2023 when he had 39 saves and an ERA of 2.00. Since then, he has an ERA over 5.00 – 5.77 in 2024 and 5.40 so far this year. Be careful what you wish for.
Remember when just about every Dodger fan wanted Devin Williams… and in fact, he was almost traded to the Dodgers before the Yankees swooped in and took him. Williams now has an 11.25 ERA over his first eight innings of the season. The Yankees’ 4-2 loss to the Blue Jays on Friday saw Williams record his first blown save of the year, as he was charged with three earned runs after failing to retire any of the three batters he faced in the ninth inning. It was just announced that he has been removed from the closers’ role! Be careful what you wish for.
Remember when many Dodger fans wanted Andy Pages to be sent to OKC? Well, after a 3-hit game yesterday, he is now hitting .244 with a .779 OPS. He is also improving defensively. Be careful what you wish for.
On to other subjects: Diego Cartaya looks like a bust right about now, as he was released by the Twins. Let me remind you that Joey Bart looked pretty bad as well with the Giants, but at 28, he looks to be a solid backup catcher with the Pirates… maybe a starter. You never know. The kid still has “off the charts” tools.
It’s too early to pronounce him “cured,” but Miguel Vargas has two hits in three of his last five games. He still has trouble with “high cheese,” but he is trying to adjust. He is also playing a credible 3B. Time will tell. Keibert Ruiz is also doing well after being one of the worst players in baseball in 2024. He is hitting .300 with a .768 OPS. Michael Busch is hitting .295 with a .945 OPS and is a solid 1B for the Cubbies.
In another week, Max Muncy, Mookie, Kike and Conforto might just be the subject of a major turnaround. It’s time!
We are getting ready to board a flight in Long Beach to Denver with a short layover on our way back to Indy. I’m ready to be back home. Hopefully, they have good WiFi on the plane so I can watch the Dodgers.

Mark, do you agree that Conforto has an incredibly long leash and there is not even any serious thought to upgrading his position?
Yes
Mark, do you agree with the decision with Conforto if indeed he has been given the long leash.
Yes
Mark do you agree that Conforto believes in Santa?
The Dodgers are paying Conforto 17 million large. How many guys can you bench with Taylor the 26th man there, and Muncy may be next? Right now it looks like a bad contract that they have to deal with. Hopefully he turns it around.
Nice win last night. They needed it.

“Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed pitcher Blake Snell will likely get an injection to help his left shoulder inflammation, which has kept him on the injured list since April 6.
Manager Dave Roberts provided the latest update on the two-time Cy Young winner.
“He had an MRI yesterday morning and there are no new findings,” Roberts said to The Orange County Register’s Bill Plunkett. “So at some point, I think he will get an injection to kind of calm it down and they will figure out when we pick up the throwing program. But given the findings of the MRI, we dodged a bullet.”“I don’t know the extent of the length of time, but just knowing that there is no damage is certainly a big relief,” Roberts said.
Orel and Nelson last night were talking about the fact that Dave Roberts had spoken to both Muncy and Conforto, letting them both know that the team was behind them. They are going to be given every chance to perform better.
Max has CERTAINLY done enough for the team, over a long enough period to merit a lot of time to get back on track offensively. He’s not going to win any Gold GLoces there but his defense has certainly improved at 3B. As for Conforto, he has NOT done much for the team so far but is on a large enough contract which is the reason for his long leash.
I’m sure things team-wide will change significantly before July 31st but I would not be surprised if the team swallows hard and trades Conforto away for prospects.
PS: I’m pulling for Dalton Rushing to be given left field for the 2nd half of 2025 preparatory to taking Barney’s spot in 2026.
RUSHING IS NOT PLAYING LF.
“Right-handed reliever Michael Kopech threw a 30-pitch bullpen session during Thursday’s off day, will have another one Monday and might progress to the next stage of his rehab next week.
Roberts said Kopech could move to pitching live batting practice after Monday’s bullpen. A minor-league rehab assignment would follow that step.
Kopech has yet to pitch this season because of forearm inflammation that he pitched through during the postseason last year. His recovery was derailed this spring with the stomach virus that forced players like Mookie Betts and Kiké Hernandez to miss time and he had to restart the entire recovery program”.
Great news.
Hope we get Treinen back at some point.
And Graterol for the second half.
Bullpen could be all killer, no filler.
How many innings before he gets injured again? Or before more runs!
GLASS….NOW!
Glass….Now my god,get him healthy then trade him. The guy is to fragile.
hi
What’s crackalackin’?
Looks like that was HR 200 for Teoscar…. And by the way, does anyone still want to get rid of Pages?
We have plenty of depth. IL him and call up the next guy.
Who would be the Catman.
& Knackman
And Muncy is supposedly playing against a left-hander, not to give him confidence, but because left-handers apparently hit .400 against Falter.
Now Pages is showing his worth
Washington is really giving the Mets a hard time.
And for those who are so worried about the SD fuckers…. Check out the score for the entire weekend
Outman with another good game for OK. Home run, single, and threw a runner out at home. Now with an OPS of .805. Knock Knock
No place for him to play. Pages is the CF and we don’t carry a true 4th OF thanks to Edman & Keekay.
In case of injury, he might be the next guy up.
just a few monday morning questions. (1). could Casparius be stretched out to become a starter? (2). Has Andy Pages finally arrived? .. (3). Will Tyler Glasnow ever be healthy? … (4). Does Doc drop Max to the 9 spot?…. (5). Does Doc put Conforto in the 8 spot? …. (6) Is ohtani finally getting going after being in “ expecting dad” mode?…. (7). Today was a good day
Outman’s resurgence is encouraging. Some players have ups and downs, but with Outman it’s feast or famine.
Given the current options on the roster, the Dodgers’ best plausible defense would have Outman in CF, Pages in LF, Teo in RF and Edman at 2B. But I don’t think it happens without an injury or two. Conforto is getting serious money and the brass will give him plenty of time to prove his signing wasn’t a mistake….
Check out Pages’s splits. In a reversal from ’24, he’s hitting righties better than lefties. bA very good sign, I think. If his ’25 stats come close to Outman’s ’23 stats we all consider it a success….
While there’s a chance that Outman may yet help the big club, it seems obvious that OKC star Ryan Ward will never get the chance. For some ML teams, he might be a viable option at DH, LF and 1B. Trading him and some of the aging 4A players like Gauthier and Hoese could ease the logjam and enable promotions for guys like Hope and Sirota. Who knows? One of these young guys could break out in ’26. It happens for other teams. Why not the Dodgers?
Eddie Rosario signed to a major league contract by the Braves. Jared Kelenic optioned to AAA to open up a roster spot.
“Glasnow could be set for a stint on the injured list after exiting Sunday’s start against the Pirates due to right shoulder discomfort, Sonja Chen of MLB.com reports.
The right-hander described the injury as something that “kind of comes and goes,” and he felt it grab at him while warming up for his second inning on the mound. Manager Dave Roberts said that he’s more worried about Glasnow in the short-term than the long-term, suggesting that he believes the issue to be a minor concern. That being said, Roberts outlined that a stint on the IL is “certainly a possibility” for Glasnow, per Benjamin Royer of L.A. Times Sports. The 31-year-old will likely undergo additional imaging on his shoulder in the near future”.
The first Dodger National League Player of the Week for 2025 is … Andy Pages.
The outfielder shares the award with Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suárez.
It’s the first time Pages has won the honor in his career.
Pages hit safely in all five games this past week, going 13-for-20 with three home runs, three doubles, six RBI, 25 total bases and one stolen base. He had a .650/.650/1.250/1.900 slash line.
Pages struck out only once in 20 plate appearances.
