The Cavan Biggio Experiment is Over!

Note: I am not back, but I am not gone either. The morons have two strikes on them. Whether they stay or go is on them. I don’t know how much I will post, but the thread will be open daily. Have at it.

Cavan Biggio was released by the Toronto Blue Jays after hitting .200 this season. The Dodgers have had some success in “fixing” certain players, so they took a flier on Mr. Biggio, who, by all accounts, is a great guy. The only problem is that this is the fourth year in a row where he can’t jump out of a boat and hit water. In fact, his progression as a hitter has been trending down, not up, over the past four years. He is hitting .167 as a Dodger. The solution is simple: DFA Biggio and call up Andre Lipcius! End of story. Give him a shot. When Muncy gets back, you have your platoon partner as well. Maybe the Dodgers don’t think he can play 3B? After all, his fielding percentage there is .935, which is not much better than Miguel Vargas (and he has no business playing 3B).

All I know is that Kike Hernandez is hitting .195, Cavin Biggio is hitting .167, Chris Taylor is hitting .150, and James Outman was hitting .147 before he was sent down. BTW, Outman has cooled down considerably, and his return may be in question. Lipcius for Biggio is an easy call… maybe it won’t work either, but what’s the hurt in trying?

We saw the Dodgers score seven runs in the top of the 11th last night as the Dodgers bullpen saved Glasnow’s butt! I think Tyler Glasnow has “hit the wall.” I think he is completely healthy… maybe for the first time in his career, but he is within 17 innings of having his career-high in innings pitched. What is happening to him is the same as what will be or is happening to Garret Crochet: He is fatigued. He needs some rest. The best thing for Tyler is to go on the 15-day IL and recoup. The Dodgers also need to go to a six-man rotation.

Justin Wrobleski is ready to step in as a starter. Before I consider Crochet or another starter, I would like to see what Justin has. Yesterday, Justin went 5.1 innings at Reno, allowing five hits, two ER, walking two, and striking out five. Ok, but not great… RIGHT? It is the PCL, and it is Reno. It’s not as bad as Albacquacky, but it’s a hard place to pitch. He did good. I watched – I had both games on.

BTW, Gavin Stone is also going to hit the wall soon, as he has 89 IP. Buehler, Yamamoto, and Knack may be available in a week or two. Kershaw is likely after the All-Star Break. The Dodgers remain the top offense in the NL (even with Kike, Biggio, and CT3), and they are #2 in MLB in team ERA at 3.29. The Phillies are at the top with a 3.04 ERA. The Dodgers bullpen ERA is #2 in all of baseball at 3.03. The Indians are an “otherworldly” 2.44. These are the Dog Days, and you have to push through.

Landon Knack, Justin Wrobleski, James Paxton, Ryan Yarbrough, and Bobby Miller may have to carry the torch as starters for a couple of weeks. Glasnow and Stone may need rest. To me, this is the beauty of baseball. I love to see the “next man up” and what he has. Heliot Ramos of the Giants is an example of how a young player might progress. He was a bust in 2022 and 2023 but has now blossomed into a good player. It’s time for the Dodgers to get Miguel Vargas more at-bats. Cavan Biggio has to go. Bye-Bye.

I am so glad the Dodgers did not sign Matt Chapman. Do something… even if it is wrong!

HOLD ON

The Dodgers just have to hold on during these “dog daze” like Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes sings:

DODGER NOTES

Cody Bellinger, anyone? How about Miguel Vargas and another prospect to the Cubs (who are going down the toilet) for Cody Bellinger? He’s not great, but he would be solid at #7 and play a great CF. That may be the trade to make. Check this out:

It’s Official

My youngest son was just named CEO of US Water Systems at a company pool party. Now, I take a back seat!

This article has 134 Comments

  1. Why would you let small minded people determine your course? You are too much of an independant thinker to allow that to take place. I am not a huge internet user but I come to your site first every day because you have a wonderful talent that I enjoy. Please rethink your decision.
    Ira

    1. Because he’s the small minded one WAKE UP. Mark has proven he can’t handle differing opinions, he routinely takes his ball and leaves like a 7 year old.

      1. Kevin,

You are pathetic. Many people disagree with me, but I am like Jim Rome in the sense that I believe you should have a take and do not suck.

        You simply suck!

My granddaughter named her stuffed chicken “Kevin” – I guess in honor of you!

      2. I rarely post, but i always follow and read every post and most comments. I see people disagree with mark all the time. Most of the time, there is never an issue. Its asses like yourself that take it to far. There was no reason for your post today, other then to get someone upset, or to make sure you get the last word. Obviously he wants peoples opinions, otherwise he’d turn the comments off.

    2. Coming in late been at the vegas casino didn’t win,but I win when I come to Mark’s sight what Ira said is all true.let the small minded people respond with childish mind.

  2. Agree on the Biggio situation. DFA him already.
Also agree on some rest for both Glasnow and Stone. Both guys could use some rest . Just dont give it to them simulatneously . Around the ASG would be the ideal spot.

Do not agree on Vargas having no business playing 3b. A .920 fielding percentage sure is no GG caliber defense at the hot corner but IMHO good enough to give him an occasional start there until MM returns. As you said Lipcius fielding percentag ist not that much better, same for Kike and Biggio. Vargas bat will help the team more than his glove hurts it. Vargas has several hundred innings under his belt in the minors so the position is not something new for him. With a few days of infield practice you should be able to plug him in there once or twice very week. You can also replace him with a defender in the late innings to even more reduce the risk of his glove.

    Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Biggio and kiki. opposite side batters, same results. although kiki is a bit better. Chris Taylor has a buffer as long as those 2 are on the roster. The dodgers need an outfielder period! Heyward is hitting the ball “hard “ every one says. But no results. Teo is very streaky and can’t hit a slider. , but has been a godsend! Pages is doing ok, not an all star type performance, but adequate. I said earlier i don’t think Outman is coming back this season, and his numbers prove that. Why not go to the angels and try to pry ward away? Now i’m beginning to believe AF doesn’t give the white sox what they will ask for Robert jr. But, another outfielder that hits and plays solid defense is an absolute necessity! It may very well be Bellinger! Would be a sweet reunion wouldn’t it?

    1. Bellinger makes sense, and I think the Cubs would take Vargas and another prospect for him… maybe even Outman. Wouldn’t that be something?

      1. Mark –

I like that idea and the Cubs may be may very interested in Dodger prospects. Busch hits second in their lineup at .262 with 10 homers and 30 RBIs after a couple of months of play. Bellinger seems to have worked out his hitting problems and his overall talent is a good fit for the Dodgers.

      2. Getting Belli back would be interesting. I’ve read that the Yankees may have more interest as they could use Beili at 1B with Rizzo out.
If the Cubs are selling, I also wonder about Nico Hoerner. He could be an alternative to Bichette or DeJong, having played SS before the Cubs signed Swnson. He is playing at a below-league-average level now–but certainly better than Lux .Kike, Taylor and Biggio.
Miguel Rojas deserves more love for his excellent play, but he’s not young and the SS position could use some reinforcement. Mookie’s destiny seems to be 2B, not SS.
Fully agree that it’s high time to see Lipcius. The failure to promote players who are kicking ass at OKC can’t be good for the morale of prospects.
Oh, just checked some Cub stats. Their OPS leader at .808 is my preseason ROY pick: Michael Busch.

  4. pages in left. bellinger in center. teo in right. Now we’re cooking with gas!!

      1. Well, I would have to think that you are a ballplayer playing every day. If you are having trouble hitting pitchers who throw from both sides, you need to find a new occupation. Bellinger does fine against RHP, .259, 133 homers, but he is not much worse against lefties, .257. A lot less homers, but he has 1300 less at bats. Best thing about Bellinger, he has cut his K percentage way down. Pages is hitting .220 against RHP, but 6 of his 8 homers are off of righties. He is just starting his career, so hopefully that improves. Hernandez has a .255 career mark against RHP and most of his homers have been off of righties. 116. He has a .275 avg against LHP, but his career numbers against RHP are good enough. Along with Belli, the defense would be one of the best in the majors. Your argument is solid, but up against the stats, it does not hold water.

  5. Mr Timmons, there are many here on this terrific site with ASTUTE observations. please don’t let the few with ASS-TOOT observations ruin your day. Thank you for all the work you do to bring joy to this Dodger fan. Living on a small island in the chesapeake bay, this site is the first opened early each day and the last seen each evening. Not sure how you manage to provide us with all this relevant information, but keep working your magic. Peace.

  6. I would love to get Cody back. He is a better center fielder than anyone else on this team and is a PROVEN post season performer.

pages in right and Teo in left because of arm strength.

    1. Well, Cody certainly didn’t prove much in the ’22 postseason….
He’d be a defensive upgrade in CF, certainly. I think we’d see Teo in left, Belli in center and a Heyward/Pages platoon in RF.
Or we might see Belli in pinstripes playing 1B.
If the Dodgers see him in Yankee Stadium in October, that would be fine.

      1. 2022 post season is not a good gauge for any Dodger. But he is one of the few Dodgers who performed well against the Braves in the NLCS in 21. He hit .412 with a homer and four driven in. He also played well in the DS against the Giants and got the game winning hit in game 5. He at least has playoff experience, and he has had some very dramatic hits. Including the game winning homer in game 7 of the 2020 NLCS.

  7. Mark –

I like your idea on Bellinger and the Cubs may be very interested in more Dodger prospects. After a couple of months, Busch hits second in their lineup at .262 with 10 homers and 30 RBIs. Cody would be a good fit for the Dodgers…

  8. Oh Mark, forgot to mention….
Congrats to your son on his promotion and to you on your “back seat.” Building a successful company is something that most of us corporate wage slaves can barely comprehend. And then to be able to trust it on to your son… Quite an achievement!
And while I often mention the Book of Moron, i sure wish AF had paid attention to you regarding Lux’s ability to play shortstop. Perhaps the single best trade AF made in recent years was the one for Miguel Rojas.

  9. A couple of days ago I read about this idea of trading for Bellinger, and it seems to be a good idea, the bad thing is that the Yankees have more need to get him, and who knows, maybe it will be between him and Soto in the race to see who would be signed by NYY next season….

And about that, Vargas and someone else for Bellinger? Sounds like a lot to me, maybe Lux for Bellinger. Lux will have no place on the team next season, and maybe not even this season when Betts returns.

And the other day when I commented that whoever, besides Glassnow in the rotation, that’s what I was referring to, he and Stone (Who I completely forgot about) are reaching their limit. Right now I don’t see anyone “for sure” for the playoffs…

I wish Othani could play outfield, so that it would be a possibility to go for Bichette and Vlady on the trade dateline

    1. Guererro only plays first base. He would not be an option. Bellinger can opt out after this year. I think the Yankees would value Soto’s age and bat over Bellinger any day. It would take at least a two-player package to pry Bellinger from Chicago, one MLB ready and a prospect. Dodgers have a better farm system than the Yankees. Bichette at this point is not even an upgrade over Rojas.

  10. While the others are swirling down the toilet, CT3 was batting less than .100. So I guess he is moving in right direction

    1. Taylor’s OPS over the past 30 days is .861.
Definitely moving in the right direction…while Lux, Biggio and Kike are not.
I had high hopes for Lux.
Like AF, I thought he might at least be an average SS. Nope. Then I thought he’d be a great “second leaoff” at the bottom of the order, getting on base in front of Mookie and Shohei.
His OBP is .270, which is about 100 points below what he was doing a couple of seasons ago.

  11. The best version now and forever of a song called “Hold On” is by Tom Waits, although the Aimee Mann cover is also top notch

  12. As for Cody, It seems when we bring back guys for second time it just doesn’t seem to work out. Orel, Kike, Maddux. Or the second year of some reclamation project–Heyward. Others that I can’t remember. I am sure that some do work out.(Kemp) But anyway.

        1. Kike did fine after the trade, Orel was over the hill, and Maddux was old, but he had a few good games. Re-signing Kike with Taylor still on the roster, well that was redundant. Neither has played well. Taylor got a clutch hit last night and has been hitting the ball better. Heyward brings outstanding defense. He has been hitting the ball really hard, just at someone. Years ago, they brought Joe Ferguson back and he played well. Depends on the player. Bellinger is much more patient than he used to be, he also is not chasing those pitches he used to swing at all the time. I think coming home would be something he would love. But since his dad was a Yankee, he would not mind playing there either. His power would play well in that ballpark.

          1. The Yankees make sense. But Belli also doesn’t have the power he used to have.
He’s bounced back as a good player, not the HOF-type we thought he’d be.

Not a very good lineup today!

      1. I suggest you call AF and tell him that he and Roberts are morons. Tell me how well that works for you. Beating the dead horse again Ram??? Bullpen game, with a RHP starting.

        1. Well , Bear, yesterday was a bullpen game with a LHP starting and no Vargas. Today a bullpen game with a RHP starting and no Vargas again. Riddle me this, will you ? Oh , I know, AF and Roberts are playing chess and all others playing checkers. Lol.
If they do not want to play him for whatever reason and prefer to go with Kike, CT3 instead so be it .
For me it is moronic. I will save my money for that transcontinantel phone call from Germany to LA , better used for my Espresso Monday morning.
For the kid I am hoping they trade him soon.

          Go Rams!!!!!!!!!!

          1. You might get your wish. Where in Deutschland? I was there for three years in the early 70’s. Little town called Wildflecken. Nice place, except for the 20-foot snow drifts in winter. I have nothing against Vargas, but he is certainly no infielder. At least not at third. Obviously LA has a plan for him, just what we do not know.

  14. what! no Biggio? that’s the last piece of the puzzle!! Why do they do this to me every Single Sunday???

    1. Yeah, Biggio for Ohtani as DH to make that lineup complete. Lol.

      Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Right now I’d rather have Vargas play third without a glove than Taylor, Biggio or Kike. Congrats to your son Mark. Now you have more time to makeup with your morons.

  16. Exactly how do you know that Glasnow has “hit a wall”, Mark, as opposed to having a crappy start where none of his pitches were working?

In his previous 2 starts, he pitched a total of 14 innings, giving up 5 hits, 1 earned run, while striking out 19. That didn’t sound like a guy who was desperate for a rest.

If he follows this bad start with another one or two then, absolutely, sit him down for awhile, but even HOF pitchers have bad starts. Eventually, he’s going to need some rest before the playoffs, but it doesn’t necessarily need to come right now. It would be better if he could wait until Kershaw or Buehler were ready to replace him in the rotation.

Bellinger – he has an OPS of .748, absolutely nothing special, but I imagine the Cubs asking price would be fairly steep. JHey, who isn’t exactly having a spectacular year, has an OPS of .726, not all that much worse and I doubt too many here would say we want another JHey to add to our outfield. On top of that Belli can opt out each of the next two years, meaning if he has a good year he waives bye bye but if he has a poor year you’re stuck with him. And he has reverse splits this year and we already have a good outfield to face lefty starters with Teoscar, Pages and Vargas. We need another outfielder to start against righties.

    1. I don’t but… he has to be somewhat fatigued and he looks to be laboring.

  17. Jessie Winkler and CJ Adam’s would look great in Dodger blue. Just saying that and the Dodgers like to trade with the Nationals. Wow! Christian Yelich made the Allstar team as a starter. Now, think back when Bear said no way to pick him up from the Brewers in the off season. Ohhh I remember that.

    1. Yelich is having a very good season. I said they would not trade for him because of his contract Bradley, and I stick by that evaluation. AJ Abrams is not going to be traded. He was the centerpiece of the Soto trade, he is young and controllable, and he is right now the face of their franchise. There is no way they trade that guy. You have little to no knowledge of how trades work. So, you throw names out there and think they can just trade for any player they want. It does not work that way. A lot of things go into the equation. Salary, current contract status, controllability, how they will fit with the team as constructed. You just don’t sit down and say hey, we will take that guy off of your hands, here is our offer, we know you will take it. Stars get traded at the deadline only if the team has decided they are out of the running, or they want to go in a different direction. Rarely if ever are two STAR players traded for each other during the season. The Brewers were contenders last year. They are leading their division by a bunch right now, why would they even consider trading Yelich or Adames? Two of their best players???? You can remember what I said all you like, but Yelich wasn’t traded and wasn’t going to be, so you are the one who is wrong here. Not me, I knew they would not trade the guy. Wake up, your trade scenarios are pure dreaming.

      1. Look here I brought that trade up in the off season about Yelich coming back to LA where he grew up and the Dudgers needed a shortstop at the time I said Burnes Addams and Yelich and you said no way would they do that Yelich is washed up. Now you say it’s all about money in getting players. You don’t think these stars on other teams wouldn’t want yo be on the Dodgers or that the Dodgers couldn’t just go get anybody well they can. We’re not the Oakland As Bear. Geez it’s all about who yiu and Maek suggest in trades that matter or make since. But if anyone else on this post suggests a player its stupid.. I was just pointing out you said Yelich is only hitting 260 how would that be an upgrade for leftfield nit one word about his pay you said he couldnt hit. Any way yea okay. We couldn’t afford players. They woukd cost to much. I hope to God! That they get Bichette so that you will be wrong again. Go Dodgers.

        1. I said Bradley that Yelich had not been the same player for several years, and I also brought up his contract status. I said nothing about him being washed up. Did they make the trade Bradley???? No, why, because they are not taking on that contract. He used to be a center fielder, now he plays left. Sure, some players want to play for the Dodgers. Others do not. Anthony Rendon said he did not like the Hollywood atmosphere in LA. Adames wasn’t coming because they felt they had their SS with Lux coming back, who is younger, and would not cost nearly as much. Experiment failed, so they moved him to second and made Mookie the SS. They can afford any player they want if you think about it. But and this is huge, the more money they spend on player salaries, the bigger the CBT tax. Maybe you have a spare 40 million lying around you can lend them to help pay the tax>>>>???? Yelich has 7 homers. Our leftfielder, Hernandez has 18. Yelich has driven in 34 runs, Hernandez has 55. He is not an upgrade. And Bichette is not going to be traded to the Dodgers. They have no need for another anemic bat in their lineup. He might improve if traded, and he might not. But right now, the Dodgers do not need a SS. I have been wrong many times in my life, and it does not bother me as long as the decision is not life threatening. Baseball is a game. You know so little about how the game works. You have even less knowledge of the financial workings of the game. The Dodgers will trade for what they feel are needs. You are a passionate fan, and you want the best players for your team. Unfortunately, Bradley, that is not how it works. You cannot afford superstars at every position. It is just not feasible. I am right a lot more than I am wrong. None of the trade scenarios you have ever brought up has come to pass. Except maybe bringing back Kike. Wow, that worked. I would have a war of wits with you Bradley, but I hate to fight an unarmed man.

          1. Amed Rosorio they traded for him and you said they wouldnt. True I work ajob so I dont sit around reading every players contract and team salaries. Like you do I look for players that could help the Dodgers so I do that or read rumors on other blogs of players there interested in. That’s where I get my info. So saying I font research trades that bull. I do. There’s a rumor to Brett Rooker and Alex Wood from As to Dodgers how is that not looking up info Bear.

          2. This job you work…… It does not include having to know proper sentence structure or how to spell does it?

  18. Actually Bradley did ask for Ahmed Rosario for a while last year, and that deal did happen.

      1. Whoopee, he wanted him as Rojas’s replacement, didn’t happen. Dodgers did not resign him although they could have had him cheap.

  19. My goodness. Paxton and Glasnow made Giants look like best hitting team in baseball. Pages is not a CFer. Teo is a lot like Muncy. White hot flashes, followed by long stretches of blah. Today’s lineup is not only bad offensively but also defensively. Time for Kike to pitch.

    1. Teo can’t hit a slider to save his life. It’s obvious the Dodgers need to acquire SP at the deadline.

Paxton has been pitching with “smoke and mirrors “ to be 7-1. Miller ineffective so far in his return from the IL, WB on the IL to re-set and learn how to pitch in the big leagues after his second TJ surgery, CK shutdown with soreness, Yamamoto a rotator cuff strain – not sure we’ll see him again this year, a very mortal Glasnow in his last outing and Stone reaching his all-time innings pitched limit.

AF has his work cut out for him.

      1. Bob Nightengale is reporting that Friedman has already made an offer to the Sox on Crochet, which they rejected, but if the report is true, at least it means AF is aware he needs some pitching. And he could always increase his offer.

The report also stated that the White Sox have had calls on Crochet from 15 teams, so it’s no surprise that they are waiting to see how desperate teams are before shipping him somewhere.

  20. in a rout like this one, I doubt the Giants pitchers were being careful with guys around the Mendoza line. Still, the signs of life from Kike and Taylor are a good thing.

And it’s been reported that the Sox considered and rejected a Dodgers offer for Crochet.
I assume the Sox management is considering a few offers, and hoping some team may sweeten their bids as the deadline approaches. So maybe this is just the Dodgers first offer.
    Another injury can change things.

  21. Tough game to watch today.

Not sure who was talking, but earlier today on MLB radio it was said that the Dodgers were getting closer to a potential trade with the Blue Jays for SS Bo Bichette.

Will see, but if true that would be very good news and the 1st of potentially 3 moves they need to make before the deadline.

We also really do need a center fielder as Pages is strictly a corner defender. If not Robert Jr, Bellinger or Outman, I think a good move could be Tommy Pham.
Good bat and if you look at this year and in his career he really is an excellent defensive CF.
And he has played CF a ton.

Adding a SS and CF will also directly improve our bench as few current bench players will need to go.

And of course 3rd is a quality starter. Who that is I don’t know.
I know STB mentioned that the Dodgers may have already made an initial offer on Crochet.
That would be the type of starter we need.

    Go Dodgers !!

  22. I don’t recall much buzz about the Dodgers considered Chapman, since Max had 3B locked up.
But I still think the Dodgers whiffed when the Blue Jays snagged him from the A’s.
Back then, Max was playing 1B, and a platinum-glover at 3B would have been sweet.
Which reminds me: Max rarely gets credit for his versatility and willingness to move from 1B to 2B and 3B. We’ve seen other players struggle with challenges–and even guys struggle in positions they grew up playing. Much-maligned Max wont win gold gloves, but he’s a grinder and usually makes it work.
Still, it would be nice to see Lipcius before Max returns…

  23. Look at centerfielders around the league who would be good Dodgers. And the top onesI list would be reachable targets for the Dodgers at deadline. .
    Bryan Reynolds pirates
    Luis Robert Jr whitesox
    Jazz Chizholm marlins
    Byron Buxton twins
    Taylor Ward angels
    Cody Bellinger cubs
    Lane Thomas nationals
    Jessie Winkler nationals
    Jeff Doyle rockies
    George Springer bluejays
    Dalton Vasho bluejays
    Dylan Carlson cardinals

    1. Reynolds, just signed long term deal with Pirates. Not being traded. Robert jr. Injury risk, but might interest LA if price is not too high. Chisholm is the face of Miami. Also has a feud with Rojas and said some bad things about him. Bad chemistry, not being traded to LA. Buxton is a franchise player and an injury risk. Twins won’t trade him period. Ward. Possible, not probably because Moreno does not like to trade with the Dodgers. Bellinger, another possible. But Yankees want him also. MAYBE. I would love to see Thomas come to LA. He is having a down season right now. Possible. Winkler is not a center fielder and therefore not a need. LA would only trade for him if they had a need. Brian Doyle is the Rockies starting centerfielder. Since they play in the same division, the Rockies are not going to trade their starting centerfielder to the Dodgers. Daulton Varsho is hitting .200. You want another Mendoza line hitter on this team??? I think not. Carlson is hitting .200 with no homers. No thanks. If any of these players ended up in LA I would be shocked.

  24. Starting pitcher shortstop and outfielder that’s players dodgers need and should look at teams that have these players. So that would be angels Tigers Pirates Whitsoxs Marlins Astros bluejays As Cubs and Rockies twins.

  25. Okay Bradley, where did you see the Rooker-Wood rumor? I read MLBTR, X, and many other sites including yahoo and google sports which get a lot of inside info. I watch MLB channel, and I have never seen a Rooker-Wood rumor anywhere. Rooker I can understand. Wood is on the 60-day IL, and he is not close to being as good as he was several years ago. 1-3 record, ERA over 5. Why in the world would the Dodgers want someone who isn’t even as good as their worst pitcher? So, they traded for Rosario, and I said they wouldn’t. I was wrong and I admitted I was wrong. Rosario was who you wanted as a replacement SS for Rojas. He rarely played SS in LA. He mostly played at second. And he was not good enough for them to keep, so they let him become a free agent. That trade was a trade of convenience for both teams. Dodgers got rid of Syndergaard and Cleveland got rid of an excess infielder who no longer figured into their plans. If Rosario was so good, how come the only offer he got was a one-year deal with the Rays for only 1.5 million? The Dodgers could have easily offered more. But they chose not to, why? As for me sitting around all day, listen bud, I worked my ass off for well over 45 years. Hard jobs too, no easy stuff. I drove semis for close to 23 years. I earned my fucking retirement. I have time to research and write stories for a baseball blog now and am damn happy I am healthy enough to do so. So don’t go crying to me about having to work. Your info is not always accurate. If you want to see a player’s contract status just got to baseballreference.com. Type in the player’s name, and the contract stuff is at the bottom of the page. You can also see how they have performed over the last few games and even pull up their seasons splits and career splits. Now I gave you another outlet to check. Don’t worry about responding, I won’t be back to check it. I have decided to move on from here and only post on a couple of other sites I like. Mark is a great writer, and I love his site. But I just do not need the aggravation anymore. I like the quiet.

    1. There are idiots at LADC as well….

      😉

Remember what you e-mailed me! 😉

      1. Yes, there are idiots everywhere. I just am not going to respond to his stuff. His trade proposals are beyond nuts. I will always read on your site Mark. I respect you and your posters. At least you do not have Andes over here. LOL. I need to keep my health where it is. Don’t want to spread myself too thin.

        1. What compels anyone to respond so forcefully to posts they don’t agree with?? If ever ‘get a life’ applies I think it does here. Big deal its just a fan site to post about the team we love. This is a great site, If Bear didn’t feel compelled to point out how wrong everyone else is, it would even be better. I know he posts on the other site, hopefully he can concentrate his vitriol there .

          1. Bullshit David, I do not point out how wrong everyone is. Bradley has made some suggestions I simply do not believe will ever come to fruition. I responded to the fact that he thinks all I do is sit around and research baseball. I retired, so I have time to do what I like. I agree with many posters here and have said so many times. When I am wrong, I have also owned up to that. I owned up to it when Rosario got traded to the Dodgers, something I did not think would happen. But he did not replace Rojas, which was why Bradley wanted him so badly. He played mostly at second base. He did ok, and the Dodgers did not re-sign him. I don’t give a rat’s ass if he is right and I am wrong, makes no difference to me. But when I nicely point out to him, as I have several times, the reasons why this deal or that one most likely won’t happen, he thinks I am picking on him. I have even told him on a few occasions I think his idea is good. But when I know that the chances of a player being traded to the Dodgers are extremely thin because of contract length or that the guy is no upgrade from what they already have, due to the fact that I have checked their stats and contract status, I just stick to my guns and say what I think. I have no vitriol against anyone here or at LADC. But you attack me personally, I am going to let you have it with both barrels. He made it personal so fuck off.

        2. Awh so when they get Bichette at the trade deadline you won’t be around. Awh I like our arguments. When I said trade and get Rosario that was yes to get a better better shortstop last year. Then they put him at second base. And he started off good but then went cold and was left off the playoff roster. Your going to leave because of the players I say the dodgers can get or that are available. I never thought the dodgers would get Machado or scherzer or turner but they did. This team needs about 3 good players who I don’t know but I woukd say ones with experience not guys in the minors. So if you could get Flaherty Beaz Bellinger and Rooker. And let go of biggio Kiki and Taylor and send down or trade prospects. It wouldn’t surprise me if the Dodgers did that. Because Dave Robert’s has to win this year a world series or he is gone thats why I say anything is possible. You think they could beat Phillies orioles or Yankees in a playoff series because I don’t think they can with who they have now on the roster.

          1. Bradley, if they get Bichette, I will be the first one to come on here and say, well, Bradley was right, and I was totally wrong. I have no problem with that. They put Rosario at second because he is nowhere near as good a defender as Rojas. He did play 16 games at SS in LA last year. He hit .256 in LA and .265 in Cleveland. Now do not take this wrong, no way they trade for Baez. He is having his worst season ever. He is hitting .185 with a single homer. Biggio will not be with the team once Max is ready, and he could be DFAd before that with Roberts saying today that Taylor is going to get most of the time at third. Max is due back after the All-Star game. As for Kike, yeah, they might get rid of him, but Taylor is under contract for next season, and it is doubtful they would just cut him loose. I think they can beat any team with exactly what they have if everyone is healthy. They won’t meet the Yankees in the playoffs, only if they get to the World Series. The Phillies can be beaten, any team can. Look what happened to the Dodgers the last couple of years. Even in 22 when they won the most games in their history. I think they need to tweak the roster some, pick up at least one starting pitcher who can give them some innings and some bench help. Who knows what they will do about the outfield. More consistency is what is needed. I have to believe Freidman is working the phones already. Or at least has an idea of who he would like to add. But just because the Dodgers have deep pockets, it does not mean they are going to pick up players who are on the downside of their careers who have significant money left on their deal. AKA Yelich and Arenado. They also would have problems making deals with teams in their own division, especially for that team’s star players, like McMahon of the Rockies. Hey, I would love it if the Pirates would trade Paul Skenes to the Dodgers. The guy is a stud, but the Pirates are not going to do that, just like they won’t trade Reynolds since he just signed a long-term contract last year. Would love the guy, not happening though. You just keep on enjoying the site. If you nail some trades, well, I will be the first to eat crow. I am not stepping away because of you. It is because I need to devote energy and time to writing for LADC especially with Jeff being away for a while. Enjoy the game, and enjoy the Dodgers. I will check back in after the deadline and see if any of your trades have come true.

    2. It was on the Athletic website a blog that said dodgers interested in Rooker Of woods P and Landeriano CF rumors of players that could be available.

      1. Bradley, if that third name is supposed to be Laureano, he isn’t even on the A’s any more. He plays for the Braves now.

You might want to check the date on that post you saw.

      2. Okay, I do not get the Athletic. Could be available is the key clause there. Dodgers might have interest in Rooker. The A’s centerfielder is JJ Bleday. I think the outfielder who you are referring to is Ramon Laureano. He is no longer with the A’s. He was DFA’d last year and was with the Guardians. He is currently with the Atlanta Braves, who are also very short on outfielders with both Acuna and Harris on the IL. As for Alex Wood, he is on the 60-day IL. No reason to trade for a player who is not going to help you at all. He was having a very bad season.

        1. Then we don’t want guys that are injured so there a no go it was posted two weeks ago. Someone metion Bellinger Hornier and a starter from the Cubs Hendricks that would be pretty good for the Dodgers and say like Lux Vargas and a minor league pitcher to the Cubs. Bellinger would provide better defense in centerfield but woild he Start every day or have to be platooned. Theu need a centerfielder that can play every day then a platoon in rightfield and then second base nico hornier until Betts comes back.

          1. Bellinger’s splits are pretty even. .257 against LHP, and .259 against RHP. His OPS is .840 against RH and .785 against LH. He would not need to be platooned and he is a better center fielder than Pages or Outman. Hoener plays second base and SS, he is having a down year, .249 and he is not a power hitter, 10 is his career high, but he is a decent fielder, and a pretty good hitter. He does not strikeout much at all. Kendrick is having a really bad season. His ERA is over 6. I think they could give the Cubs a decent package for Belli and Nico and forget about Kendrick. Get a starter somewhere else. Lux could fill the second base spot for them, he would be closer to home in Wisconsin. Not sure they would want Vargas. But Lux and a couple of minor leaguers might get it done.

  26. I have been gone all day: Granddaughter’s graduation party was in Ft. Wayne.

I did listen to the debacle, however.

I will be out most of tomorrow.

    Probably post Tuesday.

  27. Yamamoto is not even throwing yet and there is no timetable for his return. But you can never have too much pitching. Right now, LA has Kershaw, May, Buehler, Yamamoto, Gonsolin, and Sheehan, all starters, on the IL. Right now, the rotation consists of Paxton, Miller, Glasnow, Stone and Knack. They play 12 games in the next 14 days before they get four days off for the All-Star break. I think they could use at least one more healthy starter since there is no timetable for Yamamoto, Kershaw or Buehler. Buehler, if he is right, and Yamamoto, would make the team much stronger in the playoffs, but they need more consistency at the plate. Hernandez is slumping and swinging at bad pitches again, but he should still be able to maintain what he has done so far. Mookie will probably not be back until August, but Max should be back some time after the All-Star game. He is now taking swings. A middle infielder might be something they go after, but I believe they need a power hitting outfielder. Preferably one who can play center field better than Pages can. He is not a center fielder. They just have to wait and see who is available and who is willing to trade.

    1. Without any trades the Dodgers won the division. What’s important is how they look in September and October. Sure if a good deal comes up, take it. It’s never good to deal with urgency unless the situation calls for it. We are fine. A good deal should never be turned down. With the way that Rojas is playing, Mookie might be a great option to play center field.

  28. Well 3 months in the book and so far we have had a winning record each month.
    March 4-2
    April 15-11
    May 17-10
    June 16-10

July looks to be a tough month with series at home against
    DBacks – 3 games
    Brewers – 3 games

    Away against
    Phillies – 3 games
    Tigers – 3 games

    All star break

    After Break
    Home
    Redsox – 3 games
    Giants – 4 games

    Away
    Astros – 3 games
    Padres – 2 games

Looks like this will be our toughest month of the season. Padres have started to play well and are creeping up in the division. Be nice to get some reinforcements back from the injured list and I am sure we will make some additions/subtractions with the trade deadline.

    1. August has been our best month for several years now. Our depth has really shined through the dog days. This year it’s been tested early and we’ve faired pretty well.

  29. Is it just me, or does anyone else feel there’s no fire in the bellies of this team?? now i’m not saying they can’t win the whole thing, but there’s no passion in most of the team. Rojas is excluded from that ! He’s by fired up most of the time! They look like nuns at a rock concert!! Afraid to let it go! I know it’s a grind,162 games, but where’s the fire coming from? It damn sure ain’t coming from Doc! He’s as stoic as they come! Yesterday was not worth turning on! One question. How did the Giants pound our starters but our bullpen pretty much was flawless? ….. Who knows what trades AF pulls off? A lot of people want Tommy Pham. Fire? absolutely! Head case? pretty much. Don’t believe it happens. I can’t imagine Cody comes back though i wouldn’t mind it. Bichette? yeah i believe it will happen. I know he is hitting .240ish. but that could change quickly! Look at yesterday’s box score. with substitutions counted, after Freddie only Pages was over.230! kiki, heyward, barnes, taylor, biggio! that shit don’t scare nobody! …. In a non baseball comment, Bear, enjoy your retirement! i’m 30 days from my own! I am not a veteran, but admire and respect all that were! Thanks! Don’t quit posting here! Not agreeing is ok! Your opinions and facts are more than welcome with me. A little less tension and hostility in these times would go a long way towards a better future and culture! Talking sports is a personal privilege for me. I love baseball, college football and basketball and baseball! Love nascar too! Can’t watch the NBA at all, and very little NFL. Try to avoid the news at all costs! So this is my outlet! Love the posts from about 90 % of you guys! No need for nasty!! I’m always believing the Dodgers will win! Yesterday? game over after 2 innings! turned it off! We can start calling Sunday games , The “let the guys who can’t hit “ day! Go Barnes!

    1. I think that is true. There is no fire in the belly… yet!

By August, that will change. I think it is calculated.

  30. Bear, I would like to hear what you feel the Dodger’s greatest needs are and who you would target at the deadline?

    1. Biggest need, a solid starter. Getting a good one is going to cost them some prospects. Now just who, well, they need to see who is going to be available. There are so many quality starters on the IL it just isn’t funny. I think that is why they made an early strike effort to pry Crochet away from the Sox. They have six starting pitchers on the IL with none of them a lock to return to the starting rotation. There is no word on Yamamoto. He is not throwing yet. Gonsolin and Sheehan are gone until next year. Buehler is a huge question mark, but he could be a weapon if he can fix his mechanics. May might make it back to the team, but he won’t have enough time to build up for the rotation. I was hoping Kersh would be the one, but his shoulder soreness set him back a lot.
Next, they need either a solid second baseman, with Mookie going back to SS, or target a SS and move Mookie to second with Rojas becoming the utility infielder. Everyone wants Bichette, but the Blue Jays GM said the other day that neither Guererro nor Bichette will be moved. No matter where the Jays are in the standings. But they have several players like Kikuchi who they would like to move. DeJong brings power and decent defense, and probably would not cost much. He has playoff experience, and the big stage is not going to scare him. He would be a rental, and if they want, they can try to sign Adames over the winter.
They need an outfielder who makes consistent contact. None of the contenders, or teams with very good playoff chances, are going to unload any of theirs unless they have an excess of talent out there. Yelich is going to alternate between being the DH and the left fielder for the Brewers. His contract to me at least is one reason the Dodgers have not targeted him in trades. But the Brewers do have an excess of outfielders. Unfortunately, outside of Yelich, none of them is an upgrade.
Guys who will be moved are players like Tommy Pham, who I like because of his fiery style of play. This guy would bring a lot of energy to the Dodgers. Brent Rooker of the A’s, lots of power, a little less swing and miss than Teo, and a decent outfielder. Lane Thomas would be perfect in center, but he is having a down year. Ward of the Angels, unlikely since Arte doesn’t seem to want to trade with LA. Maybe Winker of the Nats. Power lefty bat, which I think they need at least one more.

    1. Rooker might lead the AL in K’s, but he has 15 bombs and a batting average close to 20 points higher than Hernandez. He also has an OPS of .841 and his OPS+ is 143. Well above league average. He would not cost a ton in prospects. OPS trumps K’s.

      1. I watched Rooker for several years. He played for the Royals for a while and then when the A’s played the Royals. It is probably consequential but he sucked every time I watched him. In the series against Royals earlier this season I believe he struck out every at bat but one in the three games. The Royals released him because he couldn’t hit. I follow him because I have a dear friend with the last name Rooker. He’s not good enough to be on our 26 man roster when we get our injured players back.

  31. Here’s who I want the Dodgers to get for what it’s worth. (1) we need to get in the lineup one of the top players in the game. Oh we have Mookie Betts coming back. (2) we need a power hitting third baseman. Oh we have Max Muncy coming back. (3) we need starting pitching. Oh we have Kershaw. Yatamato, Miller, Buehler, etc

  32. Ryan McMahon he could play thrid bass and second base and that kid Doyle runs down every fly ball fir the Rockies I am sure the Rockies would like a package of Vargas Outman Lux and like pitcher Rivers or there’s always Charlie Blackmon a guy that gets on base and would yell at people. Well that would be the logical trade or with the Angel’s but who knows what will happen.

    1. Here is the problem with trying to get McMahon and Doyle from the Rockies. I live here in Colorado, so I have a pretty good handle on how they operate. McMahon is a favorite of the Rockies owner, Charlie Monfort. He would not allow them to trade away his favorite, and the team’s best player. The second problem is that both teams are in the NL West. The Rockies have never made a deadline deal with the Dodgers. They are very averse to trading to a team in their division. The last trade made between the Rockies and the Dodgers was when they got Juan Nicasio in the winter of 2014. Doyle is their starting center fielder, and they also would not be likely to trade him to a rival in the same division. Rockies fans are already pissed off about the trade that sent Arenado to St. Louis, and they paid the Cardinals 50 million dollars to take on his contract. Letting Story walk did not sit well with them either. Blackmon is a solid bat but is mostly used as a DH now. He is 37 years old and has lost some of his power.
Not picking on you Bradley, just trying to show why that deal is improbable. As for any player on the Angels, Moreno has not shown an inclination to trade with LA since the Pederson, Stripling, Pages trade was pulled back. And he is none too happy Shohei left his Angels for the Dodgers.
There will be a clearer picture of who might be available after the All-Star game.

  33. If Taylor has truly straightened himself out, are the Dodgers best served by having him play CF (once Muncy returns) and have Pages platoon with Heyward in RF?

    1. It’s a big if, but I think Taylor is a better centerfielder than Pages. Not as good as Outman, but better than Pages.
Before the season, I thought Taylor would be a good platoon partner for Heyward. But if Taylor truly is back on track, that could help resolve the OF concerns, especially since the Dodgers seem only willing to play Vargas in LF against southpaws.
AF should do Vargas a favor and find him a team that will give him greater opportunity. Surely the Dodgers could get good talent in return.
And Biggio should be replaced by Lipcius. Give him 3B until Max is ready to return.

  34. Dodgers all ready have the best CF in the MLB. His name is Mookie Betts. His legs will be fresh and the dude is a superstar at most positions and center field is one of those positions

    1. Yes he is a gold glove RF, but his role with the Dodgers this year is SS/2B.

        1. Yes, they do, but Mookie is not moving back to the outfield. He did not even take his outfielders glove to spring training. He wants to be an infielder and the Dodgers are going to let him do that. Mookie’s fielding percentage as a centerfielder is lower than it is as a right fielder. Mookie was a great outfielder, but he is not the best center fielder in baseball. Julio Rodriguez of the Mariners, George Springer is an excellent center fielder, and Byron Buxton.

      1. Wouldn’t doubt it. He actually has experience in CF. Who in their right mind would take bats away or for that matter the glove away from Rojas?

  35. the dodgers aren’t going to win the world series with Taylor playing every day! Or kiki, or barnes, or biggio, or probably not heyward! a center fielder that can actually hit and another infielder that can hit .280 plus! And we may have to count Lux in that group. I see no problem at the moment with Pages. Probably not a center fielder. at this time. Max? Who knows. he may be great. He may be .185 Max. … listening to mlb earlier, some think the padres might catch the dodgers. they lead the league in hitting and era is very good. think they will be ok, but hope AF doesn’t wait too long before energizing the offense!

    1. I have a question for you. Who was the Dodgers best hitter in the 2021 NLCS? Chris Taylor. Taylor hit .416 with 3 homers, all in game 5, and 9 runs driven in. You know who was second best? Cody Bellinger, who had one of his best post-seasons hitting wise. He hit .418 with a homer and 4 driven in. For the three series, he was 12-34. 3rd best was AJ Pollock. He hit .381 with 2 homers and 7 RBIs. Taylor played in all six games of the series. I cannot tell you how many times I have seen the stars of a team flop and some sub become the MVP. Kike and Taylor are the only two Dodgers to hit 3 homers in a single playoff game. It wasn’t Mookie or any of Boston’s big stars who won the series for them in 18, no, it was a reserve player, Steve Pearce, who was traded to Boston from Toronto early in the 18 season who ended up being the MVP. Taylor has 9 homers and 26 post season RBIs. Mookie Betts has 4 homers and 18 post-season RBIs. Padres are not catching the Dodgers. They are 4 games over .500, LA is 19. Padres only play LA 5 more times all year. 2 at the end of July in SD and 3 the last week of the season at Dodger Stadium. And the Padres have played 3 more games than the Dodgers. Not happening dude. Padres would have to play .600 ball and the Dodgers under .500 the rest of the way to even come close.

  36. Bellinger makes a lot of sense IF there is no bad blood between him and the front office.

Belli solves a lot of problems. He is a CF. Pages is not. Outman is better.. but raw and has to platoon.

Pages and Heyward can man RF.

    Teoscar in LF.

Vargas and other prospects. Maybe Outman, whoever…

  37. like it! but is Lux ever gonna hit? i like him a lot! but sooner or later he has to hit! a game here or there just isn’t good enough! if not for ohtani, freddie, and mookie , the dodgers would probably be at the bottom of hitting in the national league! i’ve said before, all 3 of the big 3 could hit when they got here! RVS can take no credit for that!!

    1. Dodgerdad
      Agree,

I believe RVS may even be a detriment to the younger players that have come up. Vargas/ Bellinger/ Lux / Pages and Outman come to mind.

Other than maybe Outman, all had a good BA and bat to ball skills in the minors to go along with a very good OPS.
I think the RVS lift to slug philosophy hindered the kids. And he should have adapted more to the style that got them to the dance

RVS’s style helped the underperforming vets like Taylor and Muncy more. And yes JD Martinez and possibly JT to a slight extent.

Kike and Barnes have been around RVS long enough over the years and they have only gotten worse over time

Can’t think of any of the younger talent that has come up that RVS improved. Maybe Will Smith?

      Go Dodgers

      1. This whole silly post is predicated on the assumption that the Dodgers hitting development has different philosophies at different stages.

        1. You would think the philosophy would be similar throughout the organization and it should be

But that hitting Philosophy is also based on the type of hitter you are

Watched a lot of Lux and Vargas in the minors and for the most part they were not huge slug first guys in the minors they had good power but were predominately bat to ball contact hitters with high BA and good slug and great OPS and a very good strikeout %

Attempting to switch that type of hitter to slug first may not work and certainly didn’t in their case.

          You assume I assumed
          LoL

          Silly Post?

          Have you read some
          of your stuff?

          1. I not only read my stuff but write it.

I can assure you without any doubt that the same hitting style and philosophy if taught at every level of the Dodgers org.

If you don’t believe me, it’s only been reported tens of times.

          2. It’s is not a question of the same hitting style and philosophy being taught at every level of the Dodgers org.

It is a question of results with the development of young hitting talent

Other than Smith, I can’t think of a home grown prospect that has developed into a good MLB talent offensively since the RVS group came to LA for the 2019 season

            .

      2. Will Smith was a defense-first, no-bat player who credits RVS with changing his swing and making him an All-Star.

The Dodgers have not developed many hitters lately, but the team is always among the Top Two offenses in baseball… so there is that!

Teo loves RVS, as do Freddie and Mookie.

Baseball is really changing and fringe players (such as CT3, Barnes, Kike, et al) are being exposed.

As woeful as they have been and with two All-Stars on the IL, the Dodgers are still in the Top 3 in EVERY major offensive category!

        1. We can agree to disagree.

I just don’t believe the RVS style of hitting is a successful formula when you get to the playoffs we’re contact, bat to ball skills, and less strikeouts are greater then slug.

Look I don’t have the answer and in the regular season the Dodgers offensive numbers are outstanding.

I think the Dodgers need more balance with a little less slug and more bat to ball contact hitters.
That balance along with good defense and pitching gets you World Series wins.

The Dodgers need to develop or trade for more of those
players if not for this year then moving forward.

          1. Not playing for five days is part of the reason they lost the last two seasons. It has to affect your timing because BP does not replace in game action. It has been proven the last two seasons that the teams getting the bye are at a disadvantage. Six of the eight over the last two seasons have lost in the first round, including the teams with the most wins. Now some say that is just an excuse, but the results of those games show that it is a contributor to the teams losing. Now maybe they will find a way to make it harder for the wild card teams to make it to the LCS or Series. One way would be reseeding after the first round like the NBA does. Another would be shortening the time between the last wild card game and the first game of the LDS. Make the wild card teams play a double-header the day after the season ends so they cannot set up their pitching staff and have to use their best pitchers to just make it past the wild card round. And start the LDS On Thursday instead of Friday.

          2. Agree. We could use a couple of high OBP hitters in our lineup. I also think that RVS hitting style does not fit every hitter. Kendall George for example never will prosper with the RVS hitting philosophy. if he makes it to the big league club. Never.
But he could be a terrific leadoff batter with his high OBP and speed.

            Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

        2. And JDM loved RVS so much he had him in his wedding…
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

  38. I am not against or for RVS, but if the Dodgers fired him, about 25 teams would be lined up.

Like it or not, the RVS concept is being adopted all over baseball.

  39. Okay the dodgers could do this then fans would be like what the heck!!!
First trade they trade to tge Detroit Tigers for Baez, Flarethy and a minor leaguer. The Dodgers send to Detroit Kiki Hernández River Ryan and a minor league outfielder. Another trade the dodgers send to the Cubs Lux Muncy and outman and a minor league pitcher Erik karros son and get from Cubs Bellinger, Hornier, , and Kendrick. And now the last trade we send Baez and tge outfielder that is in okc or double A DeJose and Knack to Bluejays for Bichette, Kirkiji, and Springer okay so now the new look Dodgers!
    1b Freeman
    2b Betts
    3b Hornier

    Cf Bellinger
    Rf Springer

A six man rotation we got rid of lux Kiki Muncy who is always injured Knack Karros outman now bench has taylor Heyward Pages Barnes and Rojas. There that would be the ultimate shakeup of the dodgers. Use Muncy to get a good fielding third baseman who can hit and nico hornier can play every day your infield could play every day and you have outfielders to platoon.

      1. The Dodgers should get “Hornier”?
But they are wearing cups, aren’t they?

        1. Nice Duke, just awesome. Bradley does have a slight problem with spelling players names.

  40. I’m just waiting for us to get fire in our bellies like we do every October! Bradley just posted so I just wait for Bear’s response. Fun to watch every time. It seems the blood pressure goes up.

    1. No not really. I understand his passion for the team, but some of his trade ideas just are not doable.

  41. I was just saying a hypothetical trade to see the reaction. Do they the dodgers blowup the team or just add some pieces. Just to see what people said if they traded Muncy. And got a better thirdbaseman and get a every day outfielder. The Cubs could be a really likely team with Bellinger a pitcher and a thridbaseman. And then some how get Bichette for shortstop. They have done it before. Roll the dice and trade a bunch of prospects . All to get that world series ring. They need a legit starter Flarethy is out there. But who to trade to get him.

    1. I totally understand Bradley. But the Dodgers do not blow up first place teams. If they were in last place, maybe. I hate to tell you this, but Baez is about the worst player they could trade for. He is hitting below the Mendoza line and has exactly one homer. Jays GM has said they are not going to trade Bichette or Guererro. There have been rumors the Yankees were trying to get him because with Rizzo out for the year, they need a first baseman. It is also rumored that they now have an interest in trading with the Cubs for Bellinger and putting him at his natural first base position. The Cubs do not need Outman, their centerfielder is Crow-Armstrong, their top prospect. I think they would be open to trading Hoerner, not sure what they would want in return, but Lux might be part of that kind of trade. Kendrick is having a really bad season also. Not the pitcher he once was and not an upgrade to the staff. I would not trade River Ryan or Wrobleski in any deal. Maybe Grove or Knack, or even Hurt. But those two I am keeping. They are content with Rojas playing SS four or five games a week, with Taylor or Kike spelling him. Roberts has even said he is open to moving Mookie back to second when he returns. I do not believe they will trade for a SS at the deadline because it is not a position of need in their eyes. They can upgrade the position during the winter, with Adames as an option. An outfielder with some power who also hits for average, that rules out Springer who is barely above .200 and his OPS is below .700. A starting pitcher, Flaherty would work, not sure if they want another infielder. If they dump Kike and Biggio, most likely when Muncy returns, then maybe another versatile infielder. They have guys coming back to bolster the pen, so I don’t think they go for a bullpen arm at this point.

  42. Predicting trades is fun and then you see which ones happen it’s that time of the year. Seeing if they get the guy you want or what team ends up with the guy.. Robert Jr and Crochet made sense but it hasnt happened. There has to be a centerfielder they have there eye on. But who? Wasnt there a pretty good Centerfielder that was with the Nationals last name Taylor. Where is he at. With what team. I think he was with the Royals and there having a good year that team. If I had my choice I woild go with Ward Refirgo and Anderson or Adell from the Angels. Those three or four players would fit in good with the Dodgers. Just a matter if the GM would trade with the Dodgers. Shoot if they want to shock the league. Go get Trout and Anderson.

    1. Michael A. Taylor, he is now with the Pirates and having a terrible year. Hitting .191 with one homer. Trading with the Angels would not be easy. Like I previously stated, Moreno has not made a deal with the Dodgers since the Rengifo for Pederson, Stripling and Pages deal fell through. Jo Adell was thought to be the other Angel player coming to the Dodgers in the trade. Adell is hitting .186. He does have 13 home runs, but he is a right fielder. He is a 0 WAR player. Ward would be a nice pickup, primarily a right fielder, .246 average, his K rate is a little high. Anderson has been a decent pitcher with a losing record. But considering who he pitches for that is to be expected. 3.03 ERA 7-8 record. He was a Dodger before, but they did not re-sign him. Not really a power pitcher. .500 career record, 57-57. Rengifo would be an upgrade over anyone on the Dodger bench. He can play several positions. Not much power, but he is hitting .317 which is way over his .259 career mark. Trout is on the IL, and there is no timetable for his return. But I would guarantee you there is no way on God’s green earth that he EVER gets traded to the Dodgers. Mike is only hitting .220 this year, he does have 10 homers. Arte Moreno would never trade Trout down the freeway. Angel fans would revolt. It is bad enough that Ohtani came to LA as a free agent. Another reason he will never be a Dodger is because he is owed 222 million after this year until 2030. 37 million a year. And he has a hard time staying healthy anymore. Believe it or not, he hasn’t played a full season since 2019. He did play 53 games in the pandemic season of 2020. He just hasn’t been the same player since 2019. His last MVP season. I don’t think Anderson is that much of an upgrade. Starters are going to be in huge demand with so many star pitchers out for the year. Dodgers made a preliminary offer for Crochet, and it was turned down.
