Until MLB and the MLBPA start talking, there is nothing to say. Both sides are selfish, greedy, pampered buffoons.
I am not going to embarrass myself like some blogs who just try and invent stuff to talk about. There’s nothing to say that hasn’t been said… ad nauseam.
I’m out. Feel free…

Likewise. There isn’t any baseball to talk about.
The Lakers suck. The Kings are eh. Football will get more fun in Jan when the playoffs start.
I have zero interest in reading about Covid or politics on this board.
Some dude cussing at Mark yesterday was uncalled for; I’ve met Mark and we had a great time over a few drinks.
I guess we can discuss food? Tonight I’ll go get some tandoori platter with various chicken, lamb, and shrimp in it. Veggies you say? I’ll have onions and some chutney for that!
It’s a fact that potatoes with some butter will provide all the nutrients that will allow a human to survive.
Before the Potato famine in Ireland, an adult male would eat between 8 and 12 pounds of potatoes a day (if available.)
Well then I guess I need to go get some french fries today!
I love raw potatoes with Sea Salt.
I used to eat those when I was a kid.
What my mom used to do was take the mashed potatoes from the night before and make potato pancakes. I miss that.
My wife fixed this today. First, she boils down a special bone broth for 3 days. The meat is cooked and then the broth is brought to a boil. Large Ramen noodles are added and then the sprouts, peas, etc are put in the boiling broth and it is amazing!

So, it’s Pho with Ramen noodles?
I guess.
Okay, we should just say it.
Uh, well, there is nothing to say or talk about, is there? Time to move on.
I will be home soon and have a couple of stories in mind….
Bobby, we need to have a few more beers at Dodger Stadium next year!
I wanted to rent a Suite, but the cheapest I could get was $12,000 and it only allowed 15 people!
100% down to join you in 2022 my man!
Nothing much to talk about BUT today is my 79th Birthday AND my 58th Anniversary. I was in the Army at the time and came home from France to get married. To this day I tease my wife saying I got married so I could live off post in a trailer camp.
Not sure how much I was making at the time but when I signed up and went to Fort Dix my monthly pay was $78 per MONTH.
Happy Birthday Richie. Lasting 79 years is a nice accomplishment.
And Happy 58th Anniversary. That many years with the same spouse is even more impressive.
Have a great day!
Thanks STB, we will
Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary! You beat me by 51 years! Last year in the 70’s for you! The big 80 is a callin. I also used to tease my exe about me marrying her to get out of the barracks. I was stationed at Ft. Bliss at the time. But I had been in 3 years and was an E-5 at the time, so I was making a little more than when I went in. My first paycheck was for 63 bucks. My base pay was 93 a month as an E-1. By the time I got out I was making about 650 a month. And a lot of that came from pay raises given by the Nixon administration. Baseball and music has gotten me this far. Women, not so much. Congrats to the both of you!
Thanks Bear I appreciate it. Can’t call you “old” since you’re younger than me. If I had one wish it would be to go back in time maybe 65 years and know what I know now. Some people my age are afraid of dying but I’m not one of them.
I always believe that the moment you are born there is a day in the future you will die and nothing will change that not a car accident, plane crash, cancer, etc. So live life to the fullest and if you can afford it give to people who are less fortunate. Personally I give to St Jude, Shriners for children and six military organizations.
I am not afraid of dying either. It has to be less painful than living is sometimes. Personally, I do what I can for others and expect nothing in return. I have lived a pretty full life, and I always say it is the miles, not the years. The time in the service had it’s ups and downs, as life does for everyone. I try to be a kinder person now, but sometimes it is a hard thing to do. In many ways writing for this site has helped me very much. The research keeps my mind active. I mean ya cannot play a guitar and sing 24 hours a day. Someone might think the cat is dying! I am not that terrible a singer, but my voice would be pretty tired after all that time. I am very disappointed with MLB and the players union. They are killing the game. But since it is not the same game I grew up loving, it does not hurt as much as it would have years ago. I no longer have favorite players. My brother, Steve, who is a foster brother and not related by blood, loves the game, but gets very frustrated by all this gave me most of his bobblehead collection because he now only want’s Hall of Famers. He just ordered Josh Gibson, Ozzie Smith and Bob Gibson bobbleheads. He had a fever at a young age and it has affected his mental growth, but he holds down a full time job. He lives with my sis here in Carson. He has really missed being able to go to games. But he is also a huge wrestling fan and watches every night it is on no matter how many times I explain how fake it was. I have watched a lot of movies since I have been here. Mostly holiday stuff with my sis who is taking a break from work. But I did watch the Being the Ricardo’s movie on Netflix and am going to watch Don’t Look Up tonight. My brother also gave me 4 new blu ray movies.
Movie tip (well it’s a show). This is likely the best one I have ever seen. It’s Kevin Costner’s best role:
They have a prequel out now Mark and it stars Sam Eliot. Called 1883 only on Paramount plus.
I’ve watched a bunch of Yellowstone over the past two weeks (we’ve had off from work.)
I find it to have completely fallen apart. The writing is sophomoric and the characters are caricatures. Was a really fun watch at first, but it’s borderline unwatchable now IMHO.
Similarly, the new Matrix movie is dreadful.
What I do recommend?
Unforgotten
Station Eleven
Spider-Man
The Expanse.
Kyle Seager announced his retirement. Surprising.
I did not read that. That is a surprise…..
Interesting post in MLB Trade Rumors on the net worth of MLB owners (or primary owners). Steve Cohen of the Mets is #1 at $15.9 BB! Reds, Brewers, Rays and DBacks owned by non-billionaires. (only 4 franchises)
I heard he (Kyle Seager) was trying to go to Texas and I guess Texas wasn’t interested.
Ben Zauzmer was promoted to assistant GM of NY Mets. He was once highly regarded in the Dodgers front office.

My son and wife are involved in inventory today and tomorrow.
My daughter-in-law is managing http://www.UpDoDown.com (my wife’s other business).
Daycare is closed.
So here is my office today. Notice the TV.

I agree that there’s not much to talk about, but it makes it worse when every time I post it says “Your comment is awaiting moderation.”…
Any fix for this?
I will look into it.
Check your email.
That works!
Happy Birthday to Sandy Koufax. He is 88 years old today.
Left arm of God. Dodgers could use someone like him…..unfortunately, he was one of a kind. Some are suggesting they sign Greinke. I do not concur…
I would take Greinke on a 1-year/$10 million deal. He would eat innings at a 4.00 ERA. He’s a nice placeholder.
2023:
1. Buehler
2. Urias
3. Miller
4. May
5. Pepiot/Gonsolin
Let’s sign Sandy instead.
I hear he can still bring it in the high 50’s!
Koufax turned 86 yesterday not 88.
Mark – you mention potatoes, I am all in. Our family grow potatoes in Alberta for Frito and McCains. But, I have a recipe for you all that you will enjoy forever. Gerhard’s “Roesti” . Everybody likes crispy fried potatoes for breakfast, so let’s fry both sides. In the microwave, hot raw, onions, red peppers, carrots and Rosemary ham, all cut to 1/2″ square for five minutes. In a bowl shred some cheese, I use Costco Gouda dried in the fridge to dry it and age it, cut up a bundle of cilantro and mix the two. Now in the fry pan, and I use an electric one, melt lots of butter on low, season with Lowry’s Seasoning Salt to taste and to hold the butter in place. Now shred raw, unpeeled potatoes 1 1/2′ thick. Turn the heat up high, and place some small cubes of butter around the top. When the butter is melted, time to flip the potatoes and fry the other side. Now place the veggie mix all over the top, next spread the cheese/cilantro mix. When the cheese melts – Bingo, ready to enjoy. When I have been in the states, I have trouble finding Red skinned potatoes with Yellow flesh. The variety I use is Mozart, a patented Dutch variety, the best flavour we have ever tasted in a potato. My wife is from Denmark, 54 years now, and always asked why can’t we grow good tasting potatoes here, she loves the Mozart’s. Thanks again for all the great reading and A Safe, Healthy and Happy 2022 to you all.
On A Dodger note – I would welcome Grienke back in heartbeat – love his fiery attitude.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the recipe. It sounds tasty. I shall try it!
So. Why can’t you grow Mozarts in Alberta?
Because there is too much Bach…
no such thing as too much Bach.
😉
I give his prelude to spring training a C-
Ah yes we grow Mozart’s here, along with many others – we say when you eat the Mozart’s you hear Bach and Beethoven in the ear !!
It’s a slow day. OK, Everyone needs to have a lab in their house.
I know a guy who can provide you with laboratory-grade water:
