- Dave Roberts said that Clayton Kershaw does not need Tommy John Surgery and that Max Muncy does not need surgery. Let me translate the “DaveSpeak:” (1) Clayton is weighing whether he will retire or not, so he will not need TJ at this time; and (2) We will have to wait a few days on a new MRI to see if Max Muncy needs surgery, which he probably will and the best we can hope is taht he is back in Spring Training 2022. I am just trying to give you a little bad news at a time… not all at once. There you have it!
- Bellinger will not start at 1B because he is an elite defender in CF and Max Scherzer is no ground-ball pitcher. He gives up a lot of “big flies.” Starting Bellinger at 1B would be dumb, in my opinion. I wonder if Lux can play 1B? Nah, I think Beaty will start tonight at 1B. He’s hot! Billy McKinney is also ab option at 1B as he has experience there. McKinney is also a very good athlete. On the other Hand, Albert may have a little magic left against his old buddy… Hummm….
- Walker Buehler will not be active tonight, but Julio Urias will be. I also think Victor Gonzalez will be activated for the game. If Scherzer faulters, I think the majors only 20-game winner will get the call early.
- Kike Hernanzez, Alex Verdugo, and Nathan Eovaldi, all forner Dodgers, all played a large role in the Red Sox win over the Yankees last night. Is Aaron Boone’s job in question? Brian Cashman?
- I have this sneaking feeling that Cody Bellinger is going to be a hero tonight. Just a feeling. I also think that the Dodger HAVE to get to Wainright early. His worst inning is the the 3rd inning THIS YEAR, where he has a 5.97 ERA.
- The Trevor Bauer Debacle keeps rearing it’s ugly head and I think many peope do not comprehend what is evidence or simply accusation. Yes, the accuser had bad injuries – that is evidence. That Bauer inflicted those injuries are still allegations. Someone said “Well he hasn’t denied it.” Now is not the time and place to do so. The ability of some humans to cause injury to themselves or others is not to be taken lightly. Munchausens by proxy is a disorder that is shocking and more prevelant than you might think. People have stabbed, shot themselves and drank poison to get others in trouble. Never underestimate the power of “crazy.” Recently a black woman was terrorizing black neighbors by pretending to be a white KKK Member. I have no idea if Bauer is guilty or not. If he is, he should rot in hell. If he’s not, the woman should rot in hell. You may be tired of hearing about it, and you may not like Trevor Bauer (I did not want him, either), but he needs Due Process of Law. Never assume anything! This is not an “open and shut case”, or he would have been charged already! I have a feeling that the defense has a “smoking gun” that we will learn about at some point in time… if we live that long!
- I did not watch whatever Bauer put up last night. I have no interest. I do find it very wierd that Dylan Hernandez and many others have lost their minds on the fact that he was allegedly on YouTube. It’s a free world, Dylan. They even allow grandstanders like you to have opinions. Geeeezzzzz!
- The Cardinals scare me – I won’t lie. They are hot. The Dodgers are better. The Dodgers are deeper. The Dodgers are determined. 8-3 Dodgers!

Hopefully you’re right and dodgers score 8 runs, but realistically I’d settle with 3 runs …
Bellinger hero? I will be happy if he is not strike out 3 times!
(Sorry for my bad english)
I was surprised to see Bauer’s video pop up yesterday. It was about 37 seconds of a nothingburger. He basically said he one judge already ruled in his favor in one case and that there’s still another case outstanding and that he can’t talk about it.
Doc seemed a little undecided about Lux in center, but said he would probably play some out there, but not necessarily start. His cryptic hints sure seems like he’s leaning towards Belli in center and Beaty at 1B. I was surprised that he mentioned the possibility of McKinney at 1B.
It sounds like he’s planning an all hands on deck game with multiple changes based on matchups.
Doc mentioned that Max dislocated his elbow. Also no UCL damage.
I find it ironic at a manager referred to as “Doc” would be so bad at giving updates on the medical information for his players.
If Clayton Kershaw was this bad and this injured this year, but doesn’t need surgery, would you really want to bring him back next year? I guess one plan would be to take a spot in the rotation while we’re waiting for May to come back?
I sure hope you’re right about Belli. Maybe he can have a big postseason to put that horrible regular season to bed.
I’ll go out on a limb and say that I think Beaty is going to have another big game tonight filling in for Muncy and keep it going until Mad Max comes back.
11 short hours to game time. Go Blue!
“If Clayton Kershaw was this bad and this injured this year, but doesn’t need surgery, would you really want to bring him back next year? I guess one plan would be to take a spot in the rotation while we’re waiting for May to come back?”
I was thinking about this, too. To me, if anything, he needing Tommy John would’ve been better news for his prospects. You could make the case that his declining velocity was not because he’s getting old with a creaky back (most likely), but due to a repairable ligament, and he could return and be effective like Scherzer is once he got fixed.
I kind of like Mark’s interpretation of DaveSpeak. He might be undecided whether he wants to retire or not.
I think he should. If I’m the Dodgers I hope he does. I don’t want to negotiate a new contract and have to overpay for a pitcher who can’t stay healthy with declining velo and performance because he’s a Dodger legend and probable HOFer. The Dodgers have other people to pay. I think at the beginning of the season I said my best case scenario is that the Dodgers win the WS and he gets his victory parade and then goes out on top.
Not to quibble, but I think you misuse Munchausen syndrome by proxy in this case.
You’re making the case that she punched herself in the face and the vagina to manufacture the physical evidence. I suppose that’s possible. I take the Occam’s Razor approach.
I think we may not ever get a definitive answer. The DA could fail to prosecute simply because they think their case may not be winnable, not because there is “smoking gun” evidence that exonerates him.
I skimmed the Dylan Hernandez article and the comment section. Journalism is just broken. There is just a complete inability to analyze a story dispassionately and report objectively. It is more about the Who rather than the Why – and it serves a larger agenda. There is just such a visceral, unhinged and over-the-top hatred of the who, that articles wind up being temper tantrums railing against the who, and everything the object of their hatred does is simply evidence to reinforce their narrative – and then you have the ready consumers of outrage who click on the links because it reinforces their biases, and outrage is addicting. We had four years of this with Trump. That Facebook whistleblower testified about algorithms that feed that dopamine outrage. The MSM has already been doing this in plain view.
I tuned in to the Bauer thing for about 30 seconds. It was stupid – Bauer and his bros sitting there in chairs saying nothing in particular.
I saw a different video. It was just Bauer for 37 seconds.
BTW – I owe you 20. Next time you bike down to Downtown HB, hit me and I’ll meet you at the Starbucks to pay up.
I honestly would have been fine with losing that bet, but sure. I give Mark permission to give you my email addy so we can get in contact.
I didn’t see Bauer’s initial vid, just tuned into his livestream. It was stupid, and I don’t think either were cause for for the pearl clutchers like Dylan to get their panties in a knot.
You’re talking about the Starbucks on Main? https://tinyurl.com/nwzp9dky
BTW, there was an Italian place around there that got some notoriety not too long ago for advertising that they serve the non-vaccinated only. LOL. Classic HB.
I believe the restaurant is called The Last Supper.
Hey, I won’t weigh in on Doc speak on injuries. I really have no idea.
But according to Clayton Kershaw his issue is the disappointment of missing the playoffs, this team is special, his future will take care of itself and no he didn’t hold onto the ball as an indication that this was the last game he will pitch, said he wasn’t aware that he had it, more or less caught up in the moment and his disappointment.
What I will conclude is despite all the injuries to key players, the loss of Dustin May, the Trevor Bauer curse, and the inability to win extra inning games in the first half, the Dodgers somehow managed to win 106 games. If the Dodgers win 106 in 2022, they win the NL West title.
So here we are, one game, advance or go home. If Max Scherzer is on his game and the Dodgers don’t chase, I think they win tonight. As hot as the Cardinals were during their streak, the Dodgers have the best record in baseball since July 31.
Tomorrow this site will be talking about the upcoming series with the Giants or what lies in the future. Will Corey Seager be back, will Kershaw, Jansen and Scherzer return? What lies ahead for Cody Bellinger? Funny, but the LA newspapers are already looking ahead, while also focusing on the Cards.
>>> Munchausens by proxy is a disorder that is shocking and more prevelant than you might think. People have stabbed, shot themselves and drank poison to get others in trouble. Never underestimate the power of “crazy.” <<<
Hmmm….. I said very similar within the last few weeks, but without mentioning the syndrome. I basically said that people hurt themselves all the time for money & to get people in trouble. I was called out by someone who maintained that it was a rare thing for that to happen & was lambasted & told to prove it. When I did it was not "proof enough".

I have said many times, the playoffs are a crapshoot. The Dodgers and Cardinals are sending their best crapshooters out to the mound. Sometimes it works, and sometimes, like last night for the Yankees, it blows up in your face. They are home, in Dodger Stadium where they have won more games than any other team in the majors this season. 58-23. The Cardinals were 45-36 on the road and are 1-2 at Dodger Stadium this season. It will be a sell out, and the crowd is going to be loud. The sun will play a factor in the outfield, so at the start my 3 best outfielders are going to be playing. That means no Lux in CF. Why would Roberts take a chance playing McKinney, who at this point is not even on the roster, when he has not been in a game for almost a month? Beaty is a better choice. Red Sox went with their best defensive team last night. I think LA will do the same. Oh, one other thing. If the Dodgers win tonight, it will give home teams a .500 percentage in win or go home games. Right now they are one game below .500. As for Bauer, his fate is not in the Dodgers hands and I think they should act accordingly. This offseason there will be a lot of questions to be answered. AF is going to have a very busy winter.
I would go with Belli in CF and eihter Beatty or Albert at 1b.
Lets hope Max has his A game with him when he takes the mound. Will have to watch it on tape due to the time difference to Central Europe time, game will not start before 2 am.
Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where are you in Central Europe DR?
Hopefully a little rest will have given Max a shot in the arm (see what I did there).
Many things seem to have conspired against us this season, including losing Muncy in game 162.
To have won this many games and face a one game elimination seems particularly harsh, but it’s time for people to step up. The new season starts tonight.
About 30 miles west of Munich.
Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ll say this now; the rules about the baseball Wildcards are an insult to fans. They should be to players and managers, too. We all know that professional sports exist to make money for already rich owners. Yes, some want to compete and win, but the money is always paramount, and it may be to the players as well. No one begrudges them wanting to make money, but the fans are not a guaranteed payment machine who will show up and root no matter what ridiculous rules the owners and commissioner put in to try to speed up the money wheel.
The Dodgers won 106 games this year, the Cardinals won 90 in a weaker division. Why does baseball play 162 games in a season? So that the team which won 90 gets to have a one-game playoff with the team which won 106? The extra wildcard team was added several years ago. Its only purpose was to keep more teams eligible for the playoffs, and thus entice more fans to stay interested. That makes sense from the owners’ and commissioner’s interests. But what about some integrity in the game? This is a gimmick only designed to lure in fans.
Now they are talking about expanded playoffs. Again, a carnival gimmick; step right up, your team will make the playoffs, too! It makes a mockery of playing 162 games, going through that long schedule, hoping your team wins this or that game. It really doesn’t matter one bit whether the Dodgers won 106 games or 91 games,, both would have gotten them exactly the same thing, a one-game home playoff with the other wildcard team, and if they lose, there goes the entire season.
How about a rule that if you are trailing in a game by five runs in the ninth inning, you get to start that inning with the bases loaded? That will keep people from turning it off! Or let all the teams in the playoffs, the regular season is just for seeding. Actually, that’s about what they do in the NBA, where .500 teams or less sometimes get in. They lose, because it is unlikely for a weaker team to beat a better one in a best of seven in basketball. Much less unlikely in baseball. And in a one-game playoff? We all know that any team can win one game. Spin the roulette wheel!
I think that it is insulting to fans who are encouraged to go to many games, even buy season tickets, to root for their team. They actually might as well only follow the playoffs. The people who run baseball will do what they want. I know that 2020 was a losing proposition. But now they are considering gimmick after gimmick, as if this is some kind of game show that is trying to stay on the air. Electronic umpires! DH in both leagues! Runner on second base in extra innings! More playoff teams! Change the mound again! An extra run for any homer hit in the eighth inning or later! Well not that last one–yet– but they’re busily working on new ideas to try to artificially increase short-term interest.
They certainly don’t care if I watch or not, but they might ultimately care if season-long fan interest eventually drops off because the game has been cheapened. For my part, I will not watch very much, if at all, of the playoffs, if the Dodgers lose to the Cardinals. I have no interest in watching the Cards play the Giants, or the Braves play the Brewers. Actually, I used to always have some interest in following the short playoffs, the league championship series, and the World Series. Because they featured the very best teams which had earned their way to the elite playoffs. Now we’ve got ten teams in the playoffs, more to come. We’ve got a wildcard game where one team has won 106 games, and one has won 90. I am sure that if the Dodgers lose, there will be fewer Dodgers fans who closely follow next year’s regular season.
Roger Angell was a great and literate baseball writer, and I read all of his books, which I think were compilations of the essays he had written during each season.. I remember him writing after the 1968 season, that the next season, the one which was to split the leagues into divisions, was going to change the game forever. He noted that the networks, which were then virtually running sports, wanted playoffs, “big games,” to get the ratings up. So instead of two leagues ,and one world series, we were going to have two divisions in each league. And he foresaw what was going to happen to the great game of baseball. Bob Costas wrote similar things about expanded playoffs. Both of them loved the game, and wanted a certain amount of inherent “purity” to remain. The classic pennant races of the past would essentially gone, because the extended playoffs would surmount them.
Then of course we got three divisions in each league. Yes, expansion dictated some splitting of the leagues, but then they needed four teams in each league’s playoffs, so they had to toss in a wildcard to get to the fourth. Then they added one more wildcard team in each league. More to come. Again,, it is their sport, they own it, they make hundreds of millions from it, and to whatever extent, the players and managers and coaches and umpires share in it.. But there should be a place for the fans, particularly the loyal season-long fans, not just those casual fans who show up to watch playoff games, in those considerations. And cheapened playoffs, and demeaning the results of a long regular season, treats the fans like suckers at the entrance to a carnival, in my view.
“but the fans are not a guaranteed payment machine who will show up and root no matter what ridiculous rules the owners and commissioner put in to try to speed up the money wheel.”
You sure about that Wiiliam?
It’s not electronic umps, nor is it robo umps. It’s using technology already in existence to help with accuracy. Everybody watching the game on tv gets to see whether it’s a strike or not. Shouldn’t the umps get the same privilege we do? They could use it, that’s for damm sure. It kinda makes them look like rummies when they miss a call 6” off the plate. Maybe they never should have introduced that box to the screen. Too late. Maybe they should have never used slow motion close up replay. Too late. As for some of the other “gimmicks”, I’m on the fence on a few of them. I’m not on the fence on the DH or ABS. It’s time. And ABS would be easy to implement. The technology is there.
That WC play -in format makes the 162 game regular season somewhat overblown.
Where is the sense to play 162 games when you can go out of the postseason to a far inferior team (regarding W and L) in one single game ? Should make it least a best of 3 like in last seasons shortened season in the first playoff round.
Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent William. The game has changed and it will keep changing. Baseball is trying to entice young fans. They do not care about baseball purists or those who long for the old days. Old farts are just that to them. And not a huge part of the buying public. If you took a poll on here, I doubt you would see anyone who goes to more than say 20 games a year. Especially the older guys. They are trying to make the game quicker and in the process increase the action and thus gain new fans who think football and basketball are much more exciting sports. So they are throwing a bunch of stuff in a pot and seeing what works best. The runner on second, while liked by some, is probably going to be reworked next year. The talk is that the runner on second would not be started until after the 11th inning. Games in LA start at 7:10. So East coast fans miss the late innings usually. And if a game goes 4 hours, then it is 2 in the morning when it ends on the East coast. I am an hour ahead of LA so usually I stay up for the whole game, but I am retired and do not have to really be on any kind of schedule. But some poor working stiff at the game who has to be at work at 7 or 8 is going to have to head home. There are a lot of things baseball is trying and has been trying for a long time to increase revenue and viewership. There is now talk of expanding two more teams so the leagues will be balanced. Realignment would no doubt follow. Which means 2 new divisions in each league. 4 four team divisions. Shorter travel. Reduce the schedule back to 154 and increase the playoffs. Those are just some of the idea’s being floated. The West would feature, Dodgers, Padres, Angels and Giants. Arizona, Colorado, Oakland and Seattle would be another division. But there are a lot of ways you could line them up. If you wanted to say keep the A’s-Angels rivalry, you could put them in the same division. The game will never return to what it was. That is a simple fact. It is driven by the desire of the owners to maximize their investments. It is no longer a game where teams are owned by single rich owners for the most part. There are corporations running the game. And corporations want profit. Tampa’s owners cannot be happy with the attendance a Championship team like they are gets. It is also embarrassing to some teams to have their stadiums filled with mostly opponents fans when the teams play. That shows how little fan support they have. San Diego sometimes has a sea of blue in the brown and yellow. The last series in Arizona, Dodger fans far outnumbered the D-Backs faithful. You do not see that in LA and you won’t as long as the team is successful. Prices at the games for Parking, tickets and concessions are way out of my budget. Especially at Dodger Stadium. If I want to go to a game, I can get tickets at Coors for a lot less. Parking is meager there, but I usually try the lot across the street. It cost 30 bucks, but it keeps me from having to hike 8 blocks to the ball park.
Maybe the MLB can “build back better” 🙂
sorry, could not help myself

So, back in the “good ole days,” the Dodgers, having tied for the single best record in franchise history, would nevertheless automatically lose the pennant and be disqualified from competing for the WS.
“106 wins? Oh well! Better luck next year.”
The second best team in a respective league, assuming they were, say, five games out with a week to play would have absolutely no incentive to play hard anymore. They would already be statistically out of it. Why bother? Same for a team way ahead in the standings. Why play hard or play your starters? It’s a disincentive for true competition. Why would fans want to watch that?
I like playoff baseball. It’s a different game. There’s always more of a sense of urgency and tension. Single plays have more dramatic impact. The four way wildcard race in the American League was interesting.
Baseball’s charm and mystique, more than other sports, is dependent on its link to its past. That doesn’t mean you don’t need innovation. To me, baseball is like the Constitution – best to preserve its historical integrity lest it become unrecognizable. That doesn’t mean you can’t make incremental changes.
William, I agree with much of what you said about the Wildcard. I understand the need to have one with 3 divisions in each league and it makes sense to have one especially when a second place team in one division is clearly better than a first place team in another. What that said, I think the second Wildcard is nonsensical especially with a single elimination game IMHO.
I would also rather see seeding based on record instead of best record plays Wild Card. I’m sure the Giants feel the same way this year. When we first implemented the single Wild Card team, I’m pretty sure that the Wild Card could not play a team in it’s own division in the first round. They should go back to that and wait until the Wild Card game is settled before assigning an opponent to the victor.
I’ve said this before. I would like to get rid of the second Wild Card and make the DS a 7 game series like the LCS and WS.
I hate how the other major sports have so many teams in the post season especially in the NBA and NHL. In the NFL, the season is so short, so I’m not quite as opposed.
I agree entirely, William. Does it make any sense that either of these two teams, the Dodgers or the Cardinals, should be in a one game playoff? Both teams have played their hearts out all year. The Dodgers won an extraordinary 106 games, despite mind-boggling injuries and a season-ending suspension. They lost two Cy Young Award winners, CK and you-know-who, and their former MVP became an automatic out. And yet they still compiled more wins than any defending champion in the modern playoff era. And the Cardinals have come on like gang-busters. Both teams deserve better than a one-game playoff. They deserve the chance to show which is the better team. We all know that fluky things can happen in any single game. The worst team in the league can even beat the best team once in a while. A WC game is the ultimate small sample, a sample of one. Winning it proves almost nothing. Losing it proves almost nothing.
The only reason that the WC game exists is to keep more fans interested through the course of a gruelling 162 game season. And the reason to keep them interested is, as we all know, $$$$$$$$$$$$$.
And I agree with William, it cheapens the game.
Of course, I think that we have the better team, though St. Louis is a worthy opponent. But the outcome of this one game will not prove which is the better team.

If Dodgers win tonight, this is good or bad?
Cardinals roster for today’s game posted on MLBTR. Dodgers is not out yet. No gloom and doom for me today. As much as most fans are sweating the Cardinals Wainwright, Cardinal fans are saying oh no, the MAXINATOR is pitching in his home park with 50,000 plus California nut jobs cheering for him!!!!! We are toast!
LAD – 10 pitchers, 16 position players
Includes Raley, McKinstry, McKinney, and Souza. Does not include Price
What saw that coming? No me!
I’m a rank amateur!
Beaty is starting at first and Smith is catching. Dave going with the offense. Only lefty’s on the roster, Veria and Urias. Buehler left off which makes sense since he pitched Sunday.
Excuse me, Vesia…..no Price, no Bruihl……and as I thought, no Gonzalez.
Her job’s tables!
Would Beuhler not have been handy in an extra innings situation?
He pitched Sunday. And keeping him available to start on Friday if they beat the Cardinals was the right move. He is 6-1 at Oracle Park in SF,

Here is the Dodger Arizona Fall League roster:
Dodgers (Glendale): Bobby Miller, RHP (No. 4/MLB No. 78); Landon Knack, RHP (No. 8); Kody Hoese, 3B (No. 13); Jacob Amaya, SS (No. 14); James Outman, OF (No. 27); Jeff Belge, LHP; Kyle Hurt, RHP
The Dodgers are sending their top two 2020 Draft Picks to Glendale, and both Miller (2.40 ERA, 70/13 K/BB in 56 1/3 innings) and Knack (3.18 ERA, 82/8 K/BB in 62 1/3 frames) are coming off strong pro debuts between High-A and Double-A. Hoese and Amaya are two of the better position prospects in the system but had rough seasons in Double-A.
The league begins play on October 13
All I have to say about tonight’s game:

Padres officially fire Tingler.
For those of you Doc haters out there, he is now available to replace Roberts.
We would’ve won 115 with Tingler! Maybe even 125!!
If Preller survives, it is only because he has photos of Peter Seidler.
I don’t know if I mentioned it, but Seidler Equity Partners was interested in buying us. Of course, Peter Seidler is the nephew of Peter O’Malley. I told them that I would sell ONLY for more than it was worth. Of course, they did not get rich by doing that, so there was no deal. It is a small world.
SO is Rojas, others will be too.
Betts
Seager
Trea
JT
Smith
Pollock
Beaty
Belly
Scherzer
Well, Doc listened to me for the most part, but Belli was supposed to hit #4!
KPizzle who disagrees with everything I say was wrong again. Belli was not going to play 1B and CT3 was never going to play CF!
I only call him out because he does it all the time with me. If you can’t take it, don’t dish it out!
Doc didn’t listen to you with Barnes, I guess you put that in: ” less of the time”.
Maybe Max decided on Smith… I said Doc should allow Max to pitch to who he wanted!
If I remember who said that.
Today the Cards will have a nightmare, it must be a horror movie, a nightmare for any Line UP face guys like Scherzer, Vesia, Knebel, Kelly, Treinen, Jansen, etc, etc
If the Dodgers play at their true level, no one is going to beat them this October, good luck to everyone!
Only one lefthander in the pen though we probably will see Julio somewhere during this game. Would not surprise me Doc using him like last postseason in this game.
Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Found on a different site:
“Max Scherzer’s history versus Cardinals lineup
Edman: 4-11, 2B, HR, 4 K
Goldschmidt: 6-35, BB, 18 K
O’Neill: 0-3, 2 K
Arenado: 2-10, BB, 5 K
Carlson: 0-7, 4 K
Molina: 1-20, 2B, 4 K
Sosa: 1-3, K
Bader: 2-10, 2B, 4 K
That’s a combined 16-for-99, good for a .162 AVG.
— Daniel Preciado (@DanJPreciado) October 6, 2021”
If the Dodgers need more than 10 pitchers they are screwed!
If they needed 10 pitchers the game would have been lost already.
Greetings fellow fans,
I Just want to thank everyone here for graciously accepting me and making me part of your DodgerTalk family.
I know I probably upset a few at first when I was promoting a “trade Cody” agenda, but I think even those who were most opposed to that agenda eventually accepted me as a fellow passionate Dodgers brother.
Even if we lose today, I still plan on buzzing in to stay abreast with current events (like the latest on Trevor Bauer) so I’m not writing this as my goodbye letter.
Here’s hoping we have more games after today.
TM
Get Barnes in there!
What is Yasmani doing in there?
Smith not blocking ball correctly. E-6. Defense.
1 free run. They can’t do that stuff
I hate seeing a catcher on one knee. Too hard to get over and block the damn ball put us in the fucking hole early. Defense matters in this game
I hope Smith can make it up at the plate
Pardon my French I need to go take a blood pressure pill, And down it with a couple of beers
Upside: The Dodgers are scalding the ball.
A couple of them did.
Decision to go offense over defense has reared its ugly head with Smith’s poor pitch blocking. Lets hope he makes up for that with the bat.
TOTAL CONFIDENCE Dodgers will outscore RedBirds .it’s gonna take a lot more than Cardinal smallball to beat Mighty Dodgers.
Scherzer ain’t right, again.
Gotta feeling we will certainly see Julio tonight
Way to battle Max. You’re going to come around I can feel it
I was going to post some more negative shit. But I thought hell no think positive
TBS with no K zone box. Is that the norm or because Joe West is umping?
I noticed that too. Not showing a lot of replay of K-Zone either.
I was thinking they didn’t want to embarrass Joe West. This has sh!t show written all over it.
Well, at least we can watch the game without checking on what the GIANTS are doing
Matt Beaty has acquitted himself very well… so far!
He certainly has and I don’t think he’s done yet
It would be nice if he hit. I don’t expect much though.
Wow…………TT swung at ball four on that DP. Oh well lets get’ em next inning
Man I love Turner, I’d kiss him right on the lips if he would let me
Scherzer has nothing.
How long can we keep going with him ?
After we tied the game that should have rejuvenated him
Hope he finds a second wind to get through this inning
He’s thrown too many pitches anyway, pray that Kelly has it
Very strange to see a guy lose it like that last three starts of the Season, after he pitched unbelievably well since he’s come over
Doc definitely made the right move he had no other choice Scherzer never had it from the beginning
Well, that answers your question. Scherzer won’t be happy about this. 94 pitches for 13 outs? He didn’t have it tonight, but he battled.
I don’t care what the result is. That is the right move in taking out Scherzer.
No matter what happens with the change to Joe Kelly, it is the right move. Max had 92 pitches through 4.1 innings pitched and his command was horrible all night. Now can Joe get it done…..we shall see.
Machine Gun Kelley. There I said it!
Do we really want to bring in Graterol?
Another Bellinger K…on a fastball too. Hmmm
A 90 mph fastball right over the middle of the plate.
The Bazooka scares me. He’s on or off!
Cannot believe Doc is going with Graterol, that is a move I don’t think he should make. Go with Treinen and if need be go with Julio in the 7th and 8th. No tomorrow if you don’t win and Graterol has been garbage lately. Bickford might be a better option also.
Graterol says “take that doubters”!!!!!! “I’m playoff ready”
BAZOOKA. I always believed. 😉
I can breath now. Graterol did his job and I’m happy for him and Doc. Lets score runs……………..
Show us your offense, Will!
Another out chasing a bad pitch. I wish Pollock just once would show up for the postseason.
Was it last year or the year before when he was 0-13 with 12 K’s or something like that. Had a RP on the brink of blowing it and would have had a 3-1 count only to swing at a pitch that was outside from his hand and never a strike.
That was the 2019 series vs Washington
He did very little last year too.
really good team (106 wins). Problem all year, lob!!
Arrenado had a pitch and just missed it.
Phew
I may have made a slight miscalculation predicting an 8-3 score.
We’ll just change it to 8-1 Dodgers
Come on Cody, way to go baby
Belli tried!
Who’s ever in the truck directing the camera action on this game is shitty
Probably Ron Darling as he obviously hates the Dodgers and thusly I hate Ron Darling.
Who’s gonna hot the homer to win it?
Don’t care as long as it’s a dodger
I’m callingSeager leading off the 8th
Exciting game!
Not a good time for the “nothing” offense to show up!
No somebody’s Gotta change their approach and keep this rally going
Unless he gets a cookie go JT
The entire season is most likely going to come down to Kenley pitching in the 9th. Ponder that.
I have been.
My bp didn’t like it
Good pitching stops good hitting. There has been outstanding pitching by both teams tonight.
The entire season comes down to the fact that the Dodger offense is just so darn inconsistent! That’s been our weak spot all season long!
How about a little credit to some very good pitching by the opponents some times. Waino was on his game.
Now walk it off so we can kick the Giants butts!
Bellinger!
Here comes Bellinger’s reemergence!
Burn Lux and Tio swinging on a 3-0 count. Not a fan of that at all.
Belli got on 3 times tonight
Who? CT3! That’s who!!!
Book em Dano. Bring on the Giants.
Woooooooooooo! CT3 always shows up for the postseason.
I’m going to the emergency room now to get my butt hole turned right side out again
Me sooo happy
What a fantastic finish! Bullpen was outstanding tonight, and CT3 got the job done! Now on to SF!
Too much info no name.
I know but it’s therapeutic to let it out….Lol
My blood pressure is a little better now
Mine is still high, but I think a ice cream sandwich will bring it down some.
YEE -HAW!!!
Well if the Dodgers can now win the World Series CT3 deserves a big paycheck because he made it possible. A beautiful walkoff.
Taylor will get paid. But most likely not by the Dodgers. And Chris has been terrible for well over a month. He is going to get a 4 year deal somewhere for 50 mil or more. But LA is not going to pay that much for a utility player. He will get a much better contract than Kike got with Boston. He will get close to Zobrist money because he plays so many positions and he is younger than Zobrist was when he got his big contract.
My blood pressure is F’d! What a suspenseful game. I felt very uncomfortable those last couple of innings. Doc pulled all the right strings with the bullpen and it delivered. Best bullpen in MLB! Wow, Belli and CT3 came up pretty big.
I’m glad I didn’t look at the comments during the game. SMH.
All my bitching and complaining throughout the season was all about this game. I wanted the Dodgers to avoid a one game win or go home. This game almost went the wrong way. Fortunately the Dodgers won.
Haven’t you got anything better to say than that, can you give props to these guys for what they’ve done. Come on Eric show the boys some love
He makes a negative out of a positive. They did not avoid it. They had to play and they won and he still bitches.
Where’s that Cards ars#hole now?
Keyboard Warrior already in bed, up early for school in the morning.
Great performance from the BP
To get any further we’re gonna need Max to get his Mojo back quickly.
Great win – and good on CT3
Watford, Buehler, Urias games one and two in SF. Max will pitch game 3 in LA. I go back to Buehler in game 4 in LA if needed. Hopefully we will be up 2-1 or it will be over as we win 3-0.
tables
Trust me, somewhere Ned Colleti has a glass of wine and is feeling pretty damn good right now, the ghosts of the Cardinals are finally gone.
Absolutely….they have caused us so much pain over the years.
The Fant4stic four: Kelly, Treinen, Knebel and Jansen are great, they are a nightmare for opposing lineups, the Dodgers have four closers in a row. CT3 writes his name in the history of the Dodgers with gold letters and what game Belli had, I’m so glad that he had that great game !!!
And which pitcher got the win? That’s right Kenley did!
What a freaking game. Had to watch the replay about 6 times and it was wonderful each time. I so badly wan’t to beat the Giants and their BS penchant for always getting the break during the season. From a non-called check swing third strike to some BS check swing opposite field base hit from rule 5 “castoff.”
Lets show them who is the better team and lets get this done.
Buehler will be pitching game one. He is 6-1 at Oracle Park. And remember, the Giants do not have Belt, and he led the team in homers. We do not have Muncy, and he led the team in homers. But I like our pitching staff a lot better than theirs. Buehler, Urias, then Scherzer for game 3 in LA. Should be fun. Lets SWEEP!
I like to comment on the games I watched. Micro not Macro. If I think Dave Roberts did something stupid like pulling Hill against Boston I will say so. If I think he was dumb playing McKinney two games in a row I will say so. If he does something well I will say so. The former might set Mark off on ANOTHER piece on how Dave Roberts is great but blogs comments tend to be immediate full of emotions and more micro than macro.
I will say this. Dave Roberts had big brass balls to go out there and pull Scherzer. Kudos to Doc tonight.
Well, I can finally breathe again. What a game. Dodger pitchers did not have one clean inning the entire game. And as bad as the Dodger have been with runners in scoring position, the Cardinals tonight were terrible. 0-12. The bullpen gave up 2 hits and no runs and the Cards only run scored on a wild pitch which was set up by a Seager error. Dodgers hit 2 homers and win the game. Pujols scared everyone with that line drive. But, as important as Taylor’s at bat was, he would not have even come up if Bellinger had not drawn his second walk. 2 walks a single, 2 stolen bases and a K. And he did not have a single put out in CF tonight. Taylor made a great sliding catch, and Mookie ran into that low wall in foul territory and made a great catch. Just a total team effort. Only 2 players left on the bench at the end of the game, McKInstry and Barnes. Vesia, Bickford, Gonsolin and Urias were left in the pen. I thought Dave made the right move pulling Scherzer, but I feared for his life.
Excellent points Young Bear
Belli with his Mike Davis moment.
Great analysis and thanks for the recap of the game too.
Hard to believe not one ball was hit to Belli all game.
And yes, I will give Belli his due…he was the man for us at the plate after CT3. The pitchers were great when we needed them to be.
Thank you to all, especially the two who got us our runs in the 9th.
Glad we didn’t do to the 10th inning…..I didn’t want to see Jansen pitching a 2nd inning. And I really didn’t want to throw out any of the kids.
Great game. I did not see the game, I was with a friend in the hospital and I did not have time to use my cell phone, fortunately, he is well and will improve. I’m going to watch the replay and enjoy the game, from the comfort of knowing the result. congratulations Dodgers fun guys. come on count the giants
