How Do You Spell Relief?

July 20, 2018

I think the “trickle-down effect” of Manny Machado in the Dodger’s lineup will be significant.  The Dodgers really miss Corey Seager and he replaces Cory with a stronger RH bat.  This should help everyone in the lineup.  Watch Chris Taylor and Cody Bellinger’s stats improve. Depending upon what happens between now and the end of the season, the Dodgers offsense could be more potent than that of 2017… and I…

Dodgers at a Crossroads

July 17, 2018

The Dodgers are at somewhat of a crossroads at the break.  They are in 1st place in the NL West and are 3.5 games behind the Cubs for supremacy in the NL.  They are 1.0 game behind the Brewers, .5 game behind the Phillies, and are virtually tied with the Braves in the very tight NL race.  There are 11 teams within 5.5 games of the Wild Card. The AL…

It May Be Time to Stand Down

July 15, 2018

Usually at  the trade deadline, every team looks to get better so that they can make that special run and maybe, just maybe, catch lightening in a bottle. Me? I am becoming to develop a realization that the Dodgers problems are too complex and deep to solve with more deadline trades. Let’s consider what the Dodger’s problems might be: Kenley Jansen – His velocity is down… way down. If you…

Let The Trades Begin

July 10, 2018

Three weeks for the trade deadline and rumors without knowledge continue to excite or anger baseball fans across the country. It is fun to read other fans takes on their teams and how their prospects line up with others. I was really enjoying Brewers’ fans takes that Keston Hiura should not be included in any trade for Manny Machado, but the Dodgers are silly for not including Verdugo or Ruiz…

I Have a Bone to Pick With FAZ

June 20, 2018

Andrew Friedman and Farhan Zaidi (“FAZ”) have built a pretty impressive organization… and while some of their moves are questioned by many, I have generally been in agreement with what that have done, even their failures, because I understood the rationale behind even failed decisions.  You can’t be right all the time, and I understand that.  However, I am in disagreement with one major thing and that involves starting pitchers….

Down on the Farm AA

May 30, 2018

Currently, AA is where most of the top prospects reside.  Although still relatively young, some of the current roster will absolutely play at the ML level, but outside of Keibert Ruiz, none project to be perennial AS.  There could be some AS performances from some of the higher rated players, but they all have questions that will need to be answered.     Keibert Ruiz – The second of two likely…

Too Little, Too Late?

May 13, 2018

Can the Dodgers Win The World Series? Well, stranger things have happened but to me it seems highly unlikely.  In fact, I think it’s close to impossible. So, do the Dodgers just play as hard as they can and go as far as they can? That sounds easy, but when your stated goal is World Series or Bust before the season, it might be pretty hard to really get yourself…

The Most Exciting Dodger Rookie Pitcher Since…

May 5, 2018

Striker Buehler (I refuse to call him by his real name, because that is not a good name for a pitcher – in fact, I will pay for him to legally change it to “Striker” or maybe “No Hit“) has become the most exciting Dodger Rookie pitcher since… <Drumroll>…Fernando Valenzuela, who was just a freak. In his first eight starts in 1981, Fernando pitched eight straight complete games and sported…

What Happens After Corey Seager?

May 2, 2018

What do the Dodgers do now? Personnel wise – NOTHING .  FAZ needs rely on what they have developed.  They have shortstops that can play at the ML level, although certainly not at the Corey Seager level.  Other than Francisco Lindor or Carlos Correa, there is no other comparable SS. There is absolutely no reason to make a trade for a rental like Manny Machado. But let’s be realistic….

The Dodgers Are Turning Back the Clock to the Future

April 11, 2018

When the Dodgers re-acquired Matt Kemp this past winter, some fans were ecstatic while others felt he would wreck the chemistry of the Dodgers’ locker room.   Ladies and Gentlemen, the old locker room-wrecking malcontent has been replaced by the new, ingratiating and consummate teammate Matt Kemp. Matt Kemp has become fast friends with Justin Turner and even Cody Bellinger.  On Justin Turner, who still has pain in his wrist, Ken…
