When Do Pitchers Come of Age?

Who are the most consistently GOOD starting pitchers today?  I do not mean solid, but GOOD good.  Jon Lester is solid, but has only received CYA votes in 3 years.  His best finish was #2 to Max Scherzer in 2016; the year that was being dominated by Kershaw until he hurt his back.  Madison Bumgarner is solid, but his best CYA vote was #4 (twice – 2014 & 2016).  I…

Is Dodger Starting Pitching More Questionable Than Others???

Ryu gets tattooed and now there is a problem with the starting pitching?  I do not consider Ryu anything more than a #7 on this team.  I have no idea whether Ryu would have pitched better with regular rest or extended.  Maybe his curve just does not work in Colorado.  I have no delusions that Ryu will be anywhere close to the pitcher he was before his shoulder problems.  …

Money, Money, Money (and Free Agent Pitching)

During the dialogue about the Dodgers non-desire to pay for $100M+ pitching, Scott Andes stated “Those guys are expensive because hold onto your hats here, they are good, and you get what you pay for.” Since he knows the Dodgers can afford to sign 10 Greinke’s, obviously he feels the Dodgers have no salary cap to concern themselves with.  I like it when people like to spend other people’s money….
