PERCEIVED DEPTH – BLESSING OR CURSE

March 20, 2017

Well I was about to write how having too much ML ready depth can be a negative.  Then I learn that Andre Ethier is scheduled for a MRI for his back on Monday, and it shows once again how depth is a hallmark of a FAZ team.  It would appear that with a scheduled MRI, that Ethier will not be ready for opening day.  Therefore it certainly appears that Toles…

Some Players Are Not Going to be Happy

March 19, 2017

The 2017 version of the LA Dodgers has nearly 40 players who have shown that they deserve to be on the Opening Day Roster, but many won’t.  I am not going to include Willie Calhoun, Alex Verdugo or Cody Bellinger because they will be ready soon enough, but I am talking about players who have demonstrated that they belong on the big league roster.  I am not even considering Charlie…

WHY DO THEY DO IT?

March 13, 2017

Fabio Castillo pitched well, but he is 28 years old and a career minor leaguer with a 32-50 record and a 4.50 ERA.  Nothing to see here folks… move along!  Then again, this is baseball… you never…

Ruf Going!

February 17, 2017

Darin Ruf never took a swing as a Dodger – The Dodgers freed up a roster spot by urging Darin to sign with the Samsung Lions for a free Galaxy 7 smartphone and $1.1 million bux.  One more spot to go… According to Doug Padilla “Dodgers starter Julio Urias will not be pushed to the 200-innings mark this year, team president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said. Urias will proceed…

Non-Roster Invitees

January 27, 2017

Every Spring there seems to be some non-roster invitee who steps up and either makes the club or comes close and makes it interesting.  This year, there 21 non-roster invitees who have a shot.  Ken Gurnick of Dodgers .com lists them: The complete list: Pitchers: Ralston Cash, Fabio Castillo, Steve Geltz, Brandon Morrow, Trevor Oaks, Josh Sborz, Patrick Schuster, Yaisel Sierra and Madison Younginer.
